Before you land the pitch meeting, you need to land the intro. There are lots of ways to make it onto a VC’s calendar but not all routes are created equal.  We’ve listed off a few ways that founders make their way to the @indievc conference room and and ranked them from S tier to F tier: •Cold Email/DMIntro from a non-tech friend •Intro from a founder you’ve funded already •Intro from VC who’s passed on investing •Intro VC who’s leading their round •Intro from a customer of their portfolio company Agree/Disagree? This one really highlights the need and opportunity to validate an idea before jumping right into fundraising. What would be low cost ways to validate the market here: a pop up for friends and family, a cart in a high traffic area, even an instagram account to build the brand and test messaging to start building a potential customer community. This won’t get funding as is, but finding ways to test and prove the concept would create a very different conversation for investors to engage around.

They say when you have a hammer everything looks like a nail.
