Grief is a wild and unpredictable beast. It doesn’t matter how much time you think you have to prepare- or how little time. It’s never a straight line and it’s never easy.
My found family is in a collective state of grief now, after losing our muse, our artist, our magical little weirdo. I have learned so much in the last 3 days. Found family is so important. These are the people that choose you, in all your forms. Keep them. Love them. Grief can look like so many different things and those things can change in a breath.
I want to try to honor my grief and my person. That seems hard to do. Jasi is an artist and a creator, a mover and a doer. I think the best way to honor both our grief and our heart is do participate in the things our lost one loved. Me and my humans will be making art, movement, and energy. Not just because she straight up told me she’d be pissed if we canceled things on her behalf. But also not not.
We are more than one thing. We all feel more than one thing at a time. We can be sad and beautifully artful, right? I call this “sad and boujie”
We can have a total meltdown at the @barenakedladiesmusic concert during the song “one week” bc your friend just died and also be laughing hysterically about the silliness of your truth right then.(maybe it happened- maybe it didn’t… it did)
Let grief be messy and disorganized. If all else fails, put on some blush and romanticize the shit outta your day in honor of your person.
Grief is hard. Everyone does it so differently. It’s ugly. And silly. And hard. And unfortunately necessary.
This is a note to myself, but I sincerely hope at least one part of this rambling speaks to others. And to my strange little family, I love you. We got this. She said she’d haunt us if we didn’t keep dancing. So let us chassé away. 💜💜

Happy day of life to my most favorite human! @kalya321 🥳💝🦋🌈🌹✨

I am forever changed because of you. In just the 2 and a half years of figuring out life together, you have cracked my heart wide open, we have traveled to the deepest depths of mystery & wonder, and soared higher than the tallest mountain peaks. You are the most loving, considerate, generous, affectionate, adventurous, playful, silly, fun, supportive, sexy man. A beautiful mirror that has reflected both my best and most tender parts. A space where I can safely travel to surrender. You have expanded my capacity to receive. Our love has been a sacred container that has allowed me to explore, express, f e e l, heal & grow into a greater version of me. Thank you for all that you are & deeply enhancing my world. There is no other that I would rather do this thing called life.

I love you muchísimo!!

May all of your biggest, wildest dreams come true, my love! 💝
