Learning to trust Him through every season.

Coming into high school, I never would’ve thought I’d only get two seasons of cross country. Being injured my freshman year and missing the entire season, and the same thing happening for my senior season. I always pictured getting to run my senior year, having one last season, and crossing the finish line one final time. I never thought my last high school cross country race would happen without me even knowing it was my last.

It’s hard knowing I didn’t get to finish this chapter the way I wanted to. There were so many more memories I wanted to make, races I wanted to run, and goals I wanted to accomplish. But sometimes things don’t go the way we hoped or planned.

Even though I wish things could’ve ended differently, I’m so thankful for the two seasons I did get. For the people I met, the friendships I made, the memories I’ll forever hold onto, and everything this sport taught me. Cross country gave me so much more than I ever expected.

Through all the ups and downs, I’ve learned that trusting God doesn’t always mean understanding His plans. Sometimes it means trusting Him even when things don’t turn out the way we prayed they would.

I may not have gotten the ending I wanted, but I’m grateful for the journey I was given. And while my high school cross country chapter is coming to an end, my running journey is far from over. I’m so excited and thankful for the opportunity to continue doing what I love at the collegiate level. Here’s to new beginnings, new opportunities, and trusting God with every step along the way.
