[1] At first, the Hills Retreat seemed to be overwhelming. But in the midst of it all was the peace of a God who showed me He is my ultimate provider.

As I reflect, so many answered prayers came out of this short weekend. Prayers that I had prayed in hard times. I had no idea the timing would be now, but He had been working it all out since the beginning of time. His plan is perfect, His will is perfect, His time is perfect. Who am I to assume my prayers go unnoticed? I haven’t stewarded the gift of prayer well: I feel as though I pray, and then I move on not walking in faithful hope and trust. But as these prayers come back to surface, I am reminded that He is my Jehovah Jireh.

[2] Going into college, I had been praying for friends that would call me and others higher. For people that would not speak about others but that would actually speak into those people and pour into them helping them lead a more righteous life for the Lord, and that I would find that, and that I could do that for others too. I had thought this wouldn’t happen until college started, but I found myself a friend in the Holy Spirit whom convicted me when there was no one else to call me higher. I found it in Kierston, my FCA small group leader, who encouraged me at the Hills to devote time in the Word alone even while on a retreat and to steward well how intentionally the Lord had placed me there by conversing with others and having fun even when I felt unmotivated to. Who reminded me that my ultimate purpose is for the Lord and His Kingdom and to walk that out. I found it in Ella Land who spoke truth into me when I would carelessly speak lies over myself.

[3] I found Him in Ella Hartman who radiated the joy of the Lord. I found Him in conversation with Avery and Annabelle where we listened, shared honestly, and gave Biblical advice to each other. I found Him in how intentionally the Lord brought Ella Slagle into my life not only for high school, seacoast and midweek, but also for college. I found Him in the way Elizabeth and Kamdyn prayed for our group and the answered prayers that came out of that and immeasurably more. How much they poured into us. I found Him in Charlotte’s boldness

Three summers on McCall Staff, the Lord has provided abundantly more than I could ask or imagine. True hope and joy are found only in the gospel of Jesus Christ.

“For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.” - 2 Corinthians 5:21
