💜🌸✈️ Loss footage of Captured Moments of my Heaven💜Sent Beauty’s 20th Birthday…🤗

Her birthday theme: ”Blooming Beautifully into 20ty”…

August 16th, my Heaven💜Sent Beauty departed from Gate 19…to Flight 20 (my theme)…kissing her “teens” goodbye…while “Blooming Beautifully Into 20ty”…🤗✈️🌸💜; but with her 20th birthday falling during the one-year anniversary week of my Mom’s Homecoming Celebrations, BABYYYY…my mind and heart was all over the place…🥺🕊️

So even though I was an emotional wreck for various reasons, please believe this Happily S1ngle Mother was STILL out here making memories and making ish happen! 💅🏽😂💜

From her yearly physical (because wellness comes FIRST! 😉), FIRST in-home massage, nails, spa pedicure, FIRST facial, birthday brunch at Hen’s Quarter in DC…and OH, did I mention a NEW CAR (compliments of her Daddy)?! 🚘🎁💜 And lastly…2 months later…TONIGHT, her FIRST concert in DC to see Sienna Spiro! 🎶💜

So listen (my theme)…Flight 20 didn’t just depart Gate 19…BABYYYY, BLOOM she did b/c she took off in STYLE! ✈️😂💜

And while my heart continues to navigate grief, I’m reminded that joy and sorrow can coexist. My Mom may not be here physically, but I know she’s smiling as she watches her granddaughter continue to BLOOM. 🕊️💜

The POSTS may be late, but the LOVE, the EFFORT, and the MEMORIES were RIGHT ON TIME! 🥹💜

Listen…WHO told me to come back from vacation and jump right back into Pilates, Women & Weights AND Zumba?! 😩😂

Because BABYYYY…my mind is STILL sipping something tropical on somebody’s island, while my body is over here trying to figure out what in the ENTIRE HELL we’re doing! 🏝️🍹🤣

The audacity of these muscles to act like they’ve NEVER worked out before! 🙄😂

But one thing about ME…I may fuss, complain, and question my own decisions, but I’m STILL showing up! 💪🏽💜

Now that I’ve survived my first week back…I’m going to need my body and my vacation mindset to get on the SAME PAGE! 😂

💚🏈 HOMECOMING HITS DIFFERENT THIS YEAR!

Missed my OWN Homecoming at DSU AND my 35th DELTAversary celebration 🔺❤️ to celebrate NSU Homecoming with my Heaven💚Sent Handsome…because after EVERYTHING it took to get #13 BACK on that field, there was NO WAY I was missing THIS moment! 🥹🙌🏽

And what an HONOR to experience an HBCU Homecoming with BOTH of my Heaven💚💜Sents! Alongside his dad, his GF…Uncle…a few cousin…her mom and sister…surrounded by LOVE and SUPPORT…🫶🏽💪🏽

And YES, I made that trip there AND back SOLO…💪🏽. A little tired? ABSOLUTELY! Would I do it again? WITHOUT QUESTION!

DSU and my Sorors will ALWAYS have my heart, but after the emotional roller coaster we've endured, THIS weekend was about being PRESENT for a moment we once weren't sure we'd get to experience.

Because years from now, I won't remember how tired I was from that drive…I'll remember the JOY of seeing #13 back where he BELONGS, with BOTH of my Heaven💚💜Sents by my side. 🥹🙏🏽

And THAT'S a memory worth every mile! 💚💜🏈

So after the emotional roller coaster we’ve endured, THIS was where I needed to be…so BEHOLD…the Green💚 and Gold💛

Some call it doing TOO MUCH…I call it SHOWING UP for what I prayed, fought and advocated for…PERIOD! 🙏🏽💚

PLOT TWIST…because I’ve been REAL quiet about this one…

TODAY…#13 IS BACK!!! 🏈🔥

And getting to THIS moment has been a JOURNEY…WHEW!

One minute my HeavenSent Handsome was practicing and preparing for Game 1. We had the Wisne class-wide injunction and thought we were GOOD…then the NCAA appealed, it was stayed, and excitement quickly became disappointment and uncertainty.

From there came South Carolina, more paperwork, strategy, waiting…and ultimately Indiana. Meanwhile, every Saturday came and went…and #13 wasn’t on that field.

Behind the scenes, this Happily S1ngle Mother was doing what I DO…PRAYING, researching, emailing, making calls and asking approximately 5,762 questions 😂—learning more about TROs, injunctions, stays and appeals than I EVER wanted to know—while trusting an AMAZING legal team fighting for these young men.
Then Indiana happened…the preliminary injunction was GRANTED and FINALLY my son was cleared to PLAY! 🙌🏾

Unfortunately, NSU Compliance couldn’t get everything completed in time for last weekend’s Chicago game.
That made FIVE missed games. Five Saturdays he can’t get back.

But TODAY…we’re not talking about what he missed. TODAY, WE’RE TALKING ABOUT HIS RETURN! 🏈🔥

I purposely kept this quiet because I wanted THIS moment to speak for itself.

And for those who think I “do too much”…BABY, those who KNOW me KNOW! #IAMD1…and YES, I make ish happen! 😂 I pray, ask questions, advocate and knock on doors…and if one doesn’t open, I’m already looking for another one.

Some admire it. Some respect it. Some misunderstand it. Some may even hate on it or get a lil envious because they don’t understand HOW I make ish happen.
But I know WHO I AM…UNAPOLOGETICALLY! 💅🏾

Now the ONLY thing wrong with this comeback story…OF ALL WEEKENDS, his Mama is on a CRUISE!!! Otherwise, y’all KNOW where I’d be; but his Dad is there…so it’s all good...🏈🔥

🕊️☁️ A LITTLE CLOSER TO HEAVEN TODAY… ❤️

14 months without you, Mommy…🥹💔
As I traveled through these beautiful skies, I couldn’t help but feel a little closer to YOU…and when I looked out that airplane window, there you were…YOUR FACE IN THE CLOUDS! 🥹🪽❤️

Maybe it was just what my heart needed, but in that moment, I felt like you were right there, watching over me as I traveled through the skies…🙏🏽

14 months without your voice, your hugs, your laughter…and I’d still give ANYTHING for just one more conversation.
I’m learning to continue LIVING while carrying the love and memories of someone I wish I could have kept FOREVER.

Today, Heaven felt a little closer…and so did YOU, Mommy…🫶🏽

Keep flying beside me, my FOREVER ANGEL…🕊️☁️

Tuesday, I worked the Delaware Primary from 6AM until I walked through my door at 9:30PM! 🗳️ Whewww…a LONG day, with a lil unexpected FOOLISHNESS sprinkled somewhere in the midst. 😂 But y’all know I don’t stress—NOT when I can speak my peace and KEEP IT MOVING. 💅🏽

So Wednesday, I worked OUT to release some energy, reset and pour back into ME. 💪🏽 Then I RELAXED…and today, I’m taking ANOTHER day to do just that. 😌

And here’s your lil civic reminder: Primaries MATTER because they determine which candidates move forward to the general election. So when future results don’t look the way you wanted…don’t get BIG MAD if you chose to sit this part out. 👀🗳️

Exercise your RIGHT before exercising your COMPLAINTS. 😏💅🏽

For those who were just a tad bit curious…🤔

My Heaven💜Sent Beauty has left me…AGAIN…about 2 weeks ago…to start her Junior Year of college 🥹💜…and I definitely miss my workout partner! She encourages & inspires me, while my Heaven💚Sent Handsome does the same from a distance…very aggressively…😬🤗

But don’t think because she left…this Mama stopped! 😂💪🏽 At this age, the BODY might be willing while the MIND be like, “Girl…we ain’t gotta go today!” 😂🤣 And some days, it’s the other way around! Motivation and I are NOT always on speaking terms! 😩😂

But at my age…I’m pretty healthy & blessed—just a few pounds overweight…so I want these EXTRA POUNDS GONE, while getting stronger & more flexible. So whether I feel like it or NOT…Pilates, Women & Weights, Zumba, swimming & sauna—I’m STILL getting it IN…💪🏽…b/c apparently these pounds didn’t get the eviction notice the first time…🤪
