This past week, I was honored to be part of @desertdesignweek, creating dessert for a beautiful dinner at @cosanti_originals for @lutronbydesign and @luxemagazine. @kamusachef prepared a wonderful meal centered around community and the idea of adapting to your environment. My dessert course was aptly named “Jam Session.”

For the menu, I served my Galleta Sonora (spicy mesquite chocolate chip cookies) and lime prickly pear cookies, paired with three Arizona wine jellies crafted by @troistheshop, featuring wines from @queenofcupswines, @doscabezas, and @runewines.

Nothing speaks to adaptability quite like living in the desert. I wanted to bring together the flavors of the Sonoran Desert while highlighting the creativity of other small, local businesses through desert-foraged flours (@sonoranscavengers and @borderlandsrestoration), chiltepin sugar and salt (@agavepantry), and locally crafted jellies. Guests were encouraged to play, experiment, and taste-test different flavor combinations, making dessert an experience of its own.

The cookies were served on handmade ceramic platters created by my lovely friend @ceramicsbyjudith, bringing yet another layer of local artistry to the table.

A beautiful reminder of what can happen when food, design, community, and the desert come together. 🌵✨

Together with @kamusachef and @solmodern.phx, we gathered around a rooftop table to share food, wine, and conversation as the sun set over the city.

Every course was paired with intention. Each wine was chosen not only for what it brought to the plate, but for the story it told alongside it. From bright and expressive pours to deeper, more contemplative bottles, the pairings became part of the conversation itself.

What began as a dinner became something familiar.
