NZ didn’t have the races we wanted, so we built one 🏁

We’re Estelle, Kane and Belinda, three Elite 15 athletes who’ve spent years training, competing and flying offshore to find the races we love. We kept saying we need more races at home, so here we are!

Some of you have raced at our event before which we’ve now stepped away from to build something of our own, and we’re grateful for everything it taught us.

Thank you to everyone who’s been on that journey with us. We can’t wait to see you on our new start line 🏃🏽‍♀️

Hex is for everyone. Whether you’re chasing a podium or racing for the very first time, we want you to feel that rush we feel when we cross that finish line.

And for our next gen: our kids have cheered us over every finish line, and now they want a go. So we’ve built a race just for them too 🤗

Here we go, our annual charity fundraiser for 2026 😮‍💨

12 hours. 12 challenges all for @kidscannz

Chasing the Hour is a 12-hour fitness challenge where every hour brings a new workout at different locations around Papamoa, designed for adults and whānau to get involved, challenge themselves and have fun throughout the day!

Every dollar raised from the event supports KidsCan, helping children across New Zealand get the essentials they need to learn, grow and thrive, including food, clothing and learning support.

$50 entry fee per person (via donation or fundraising to our give a little page)

Do it solo or in a team of 2-4 👯👯‍♀️

Men’s Pairs 🥇

Had so much fun out there blasting around the course with Kane! Such a rad first event with a different blend of movements challenging the body in a different way.

Kane is a mad dog! But the pictures above tell a story went out there and actually enjoyed racing without it just being driven on results. Kane dragged me through the burpees that’s for sure but ask him who won the sprint 😜

@estelle_baigent @kanebaigent @binnygrace @disciplinegamesevents well done on putting on such a rad event for everyone to get after. Buzzing for whats to come after this one with the standard being set👏

When three elite hybrid athletes joined forces with @disciplinegamesevents, @surgefitnessrace was born ⚡️

The past few months have been filled with long days, big decisions, problem-solving, and plenty of behind-the-scenes work to bring this event to life. After more than 10 years in the fitness event space, we knew that while a hybrid race may look different, our purpose would remain the same: create an unforgettable experience for every athlete and get the job done, no matter what it takes.

People see the bright lights, the big moments, and the flashy equipment, but they don’t always see the early mornings, late nights, planning, preparation, and countless small details that make an event like this possible.

What a weekend it was.

To every athlete who showed up and gave it everything, thank you for trusting us and being part of the very first @surgefitnessrace.

To our incredible team, judges, volunteers, helpers, supporters, partners, and everyone who played a role behind the scenes, THANK YOU! Your hard work, energy, and belief in this event made it possible. We genuinely couldn’t have done it without you.

We’re proud of what we created together and incredibly grateful for everyone who helped bring the vision to life.

This is only the beginning.
