POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Next week! Government doesn’t have to run on rigid, check-the-box “project management.” It can run on the same iterative, user-focused thinking that makes good products good, if the people inside it are empowered to think that way. A liberalism that builds! 🏛️

Many Mason students are headed toward federal agencies and contracting firms, and a lot of us have already heard the horror stories about how slow, rigid, and frustrating that world can be.

Jen Pahlka heard them too. So she built Code for America, served as U.S. Deputy Chief Technology Officer, and wrote Recoding America, a hands-on account of what it takes to make government work well for the people inside it and the people it serves.

Join Abundance at GMU for a fireside chat and Q+A with Jen Pahlka on what this theory of governance could mean for us as we start out in this region.

One of our brothers, Zoe Jean-Charles, had the opportunity to attend the first National KAPi Convention in Chicago, IL!

Hear about her experience:
“My experience at the KAPI national convention showed me how truly strong and supportive KAPI’s brotherhood is, both within each chapter and across state lines. Seeing my fellow brothers’ hard work and drive has motivated me to push past my comfort zone and grow more as a student, brother, and leader. I learned so much not only about this fraternity’s core pillars but also about myself and how I want to reflect Kappa Alpha Pi’s values. I truly could not have asked for a better experience, and I hope to go back next year with an even stronger Clemson presence.”

We are so grateful Zoe got to experience this amazing opportunity, thank you @kapinational for creating a new memorable tradition!

Photo from our last event with Commonwealth Attorney Steve Descano! It was an insightful opportunity, and we all gained valuable perspectives through an engaging discussion and are very grateful he took time out of his day to come talk to us!

The trees in Lewinsville Park were just popping with beautiful fall color on this lovely, warm afternoon, as we continued to tackle the weeds of summer that had taken residence in our natives cages! Thanks to our energetic and productive volunteers—special shout out to the pre-law ladies from Kappa Alpah Phi @ George Mason University!—who carefully sorted the weeds from the natives to ensure our lovely saplings had plenty of room to grow! We will be back weeding and planting in Lewinsville Park next Saturday, so PLEASE come join us (and bring your friends!)! See our bio page for info about upcoming events and all MTF’s awesome canopy enhancing programs! #volunteernativeplants #georgemasonuniversity #mcleanva
