In honor of the first week of Hispanic Heritage Month, we want to share what this month means to some of our sisters across all 4 of Brown’s Panhellenic sororities🩷

“Hispanic Heritage Month to me means giving latin countries and communities the love and attention they deserve all year round! When I joined KD, I was so lucky to meet Melissa. We immediately clicked, bonding especially over our Hispanic backgrounds. It provided us with an instant connection and I love all the friendships I have made with my Latina sisters!” ~ Eva Dillon ‘29, Kappa Delta

“Hispanic Heritage Month, to me, is a time to acknowledge and reconnect with my cultural roots. It’s also a time when I feel inspired by other Hispanics and motivated to best represent my home country of Ecuador. During Hispanic Heritage Month, I hope to bring to light the stories of many fellow Latinos, while proudly wearing my culture and highlighting its beauty for others to appreciate and enjoy! Greek life has allowed me to meet sisters who share my culture, while giving me the opportunity to share my culture and its traditions with others who may not have experienced them before.” ~Kassy Patino ‘29, Kappa Alpha Theta

One of my favorite moments of every DG event is when all of the Latinas find each other for a joint picture. Moments like these remind me how wonderful it is to share my culture and how regardless of how far from home I might feel, I can always connect with my sisterhood and find community there.” ~Alina Calix-Martinez ‘29, Delta Gamma

Before coming to college, the stereotypes I saw online about Greek life made me believe that sororities weren’t a space for someone from my cultural background. That perception quickly changed when I was welcomed by some of the most kindest girls I’ve met. Through Kapp
