We welcomed the cast of Beyond The Gates for their first #HBCU homecoming and it was a Banneker to Spelhouse affair!
First let me say that my LS @karankendrick is the most humble, down to Earth person ever but seeing her in her Tv/Hollywood light always does me proud. Thank you Tonya Howard Calhoun, Alzay, @vernettaperkins Vernetta Perkins Walker and the three phenomenal students, Trinity, Ashlyn, and Erin-Michael, took wonderful care of everyone all day.

The BTG family is just that… family. Every fan was greeted with love and a genuine appreciation. There was so much HBCU love - from the sidelines, to the President's tent, to the full Westview tent stroll. Let’s just say Devin has a WHOLE lot of new aunties and uncles 😂 you can’t tell him he’s not part of the BTG family 🥰

This was the epitome of SpelHouse and reunion homecoming, and I'm so grateful we could share it with so many people who now see why HBCUs matter. I am tired, y'all, but I am FULL.

A big thank you to everyone at Spelman and Morehouse who made this weekend possible. 💙❤️

"And Just Like That… the Black Widow Forgot to Read the Fine Print" 🫧🕷️🫧

Bubble bathers, gather ‘round, because Fairmont Crest is serving plot twists hotter than a poisoned salad and twice as messy.

Hayley Hamilton — our resident black-widow-in-training — has been playing the long game like a woman who thinks the universe owes her a life insurance payout and a quiet widowhood. Micro-dosing her husband’s drinks, batting those lashes, pretending the whole marriage wasn’t a carefully curated con… classic. But here’s the thing about soaps (and prenups): they never drop an “infidelity clause” into casual conversation just to fill airtime. Somebody’s about to get financially waterboarded, and the smart money says it’s the woman currently auditioning for Most Dedicated Homemaker While Slowly Killing Her Mark.

And the universe, in its infinite petty wisdom, already handed her the perfect gotcha. While a tornado was busy redesigning Fairmont Crest real estate like a drunken interior decorator, Bill and Dani were off somewhere playing Naked Twister in a closet/elevator/pile of rubble. The man she married for the big score was busy rekindling old flames while the building came down around them...

But wait—there's more, bubble bathers. 🛀

Beyond the Gates Is on Fire, and Apparently Everyone Brought Matches 🫧🥍🫧

There are weeks when you watch Beyond the Gates and think, Okay, I have thoughts.

And then there are weeks like this one, where you finish an episode, stare at the television for a few seconds, and wonder if Fairmont has collectively lost its damn mind.

This week was one of those weeks. Even Carlton and Dial...I meant Kial no longer has to say, "Pick Me...Pick Me!" Nicole Dupree has made her decision, but I'll talk smack about Nicole next week as I have lots of other things to dish about, bubble bathers. 🛀

Where exactly do I begin?

Maybe with Tyrell and Jessica, because somewhere between Memorial Day weekend, when I didn't even know Jessica's name, and now, I have apparently become invested in her future.

Jessica dumped Tyrell because he was smothering her. And honestly? I understood it.

These two are heading off to different colleges. They're going to be separated by distance, schedules, new experiences and an entirely different stage of life. Tyrell's feelings are genuine, but sometimes loving somebody doesn't mean holding onto them so tightly that they can't breathe.

And let's not forget that Tyrell lost his virginity on Cotillion night. That alone was a pretty significant milestone for him.

What I find interesting is that Jessica has developed enough of a personality that I actually want to see more of her. She's got some fire. She's a little pistol. And considering I didn't even know her name a few months ago, that's saying something.

So if the writers ever need another young character to be brought back down the road, Jessica has my vote...

But wait—there's more, bubble bathers. IG's character limit is about to cockblock the rest of the juicy rant that I have in store, so the rest of this glorious takedown lives on Threads. Same name as here. Different app. Facebook's cousin. All in the Meta family. Hey, it's the only place I have without worrying about character limits.
