There was a period in my life when I felt completely disconnected from my creativity.

On paper, things were fine. I had a good job, people I loved, a life that looked okay, but underneath, I felt stuck in Groundhog Day.

Then I found The Artist’s Way and Julia Cameron’s idea of the Shadow Artist... Someone who wants a creative life but has handed that power over to something outside themselves.

That was me.

I’d wanted to be a photographer since I was a kid. I got close but bottled it, and instead became a photo/film producer… literally standing in the shadow of the thing I wanted most.

Everything changed when I finally took one small step toward the life I actually wanted.

And sometimes, one step is all it takes to change direction.

That’s a big part of why I created Desert Mountain Creative Retreat — Unplug · Reset · Create 🏜️

4 days / 3 nights in the California High Desert to rest, reconnect, create, and make space for what comes next.

We’ll do yoga, Reiki, hiking, nourishing meals, creative exercises, journaling, dream boards, and plenty of quiet time to work on a project — or simply do nothing at all.

You might arrive with a manuscript, sketchbook, business idea, or life question.

You might arrive with no idea what comes next.

Both are welcome.

And because it falls over Halloween, we’ll carve pumpkins 🎃 and do a special release ritual too.

And if one woman came to mind while you were reading this, send it to her. Good karma absolutely counts. ❤️

⚡ You know something is calling you... a project, a change, an idea, a version of your life.

But you’ve lost the space to hear it.

Desert Mountain Creative Retreat — Unplug · Reset · Create

October 29 – November 1 : Come spend Halloween with us in the desert 🎃👻🎃

We’re hosting an intimate 4-day / 3-night creative and wellbeing retreat for women at The Juniper House in the California high desert, just 2.5 hours from LA.

It’s for anyone feeling stuck, creatively disconnected, or simply ready to make space for what comes next.

Across four slow days, we’ll move between gentle morning yoga, guided creative exercises, nature walks (including a trip to Idyllwild), nourishing chef-prepared meals, sauna time, and long stretches of protected space to write, think, make, rest — or simply do absolutely nothing.

Bring the thing that’s been quietly asking for your attention... or arrive with no project at all.

This is not the kind of retreat where you'll go home empty-handed. We've intentionally designed this retreat to continue after you leave... We’ll actively build a simple, creative toolkit you can take home with you.

@karinalucianocoaching will nourish us with beautiful seasonal meals throughout the retreat, while @adelethomas_photo guides our: Unplug · Reset · Create process: Where am I? → What’s calling me? → What’s blocking me? → What happens next?

Accommodation, meals and drinks, yoga, creative sessions and retreat activities are all included.

We’re keeping this first retreat intentionally intimate, with only 5–10 spaces, including private rooms, shared-room options and two 🚐 campervan spots, so you can choose the stay that suits you best.

🦋 We’re also offering special community rates for the next 10 days.

DM us or email to info@desertmountainretreats.com and we’ll arrange everything with you.

Full retreat details are through the link in bio.

Turn toward quiet magic ✨

Another beautiful 🍁 weekend retreat has been and gone.

I'm left feeling:

🔥 The warmth of the fire.

🥑 The nourishment of the food.

The space that held us.

🧘‍♀️ Waking at sunrise.

🌙 Mountain adventures.

✨ A nighttime ritual of magic & reiki.

🎨 Playing with paint and dreams.

It's always been a dream to offer my home in this way, to awesome like-minded women who come to pause, turn inward, rest and reflect. And what better time to do it than Fall 🍂

Grateful for you @karinalucianocoaching 💞 who went above and beyond with creative, ayurvedic fresh seasonal meals, that my tumtum still 🤤 about. Always such a laugh and a treat to work with you lady.

We're already planning the next one..
Bring on spring! 😉
Stay tuned!
