On February 4 at 18:00, we invite you to the opening of the international group exhibition Architecture of the Absurd at MASA Gallery (Elizabetes iela 67, Riga).

Inspired by Albert Camus’ philosophy, the exhibition reflects on the human need to construct meaning within a reality marked by instability, fragmentation, and perpetual movement. Through painting, sculpture, and multimedia, ten artists explore how everyday objects, gestures, and rituals become individual points of anchoring — contemporary “Sisyphus stones” that sustain inner balance and allow one to remain grounded amid chaos.

Admission is free.

Architecture of the Absurd | Group Exhibition
Exhibition Preview: Jan 29, 18:00 Grand Opening: Feb 4, 18:00

In a world without inherent meaning, one must create it for themselves. Inspired by Albert Camus, “Architecture of the Absurd” explores modern-day “Sisyphus stones”—individual anchors within an ephemeral and ever-changing landscape. Through various media, ten artists seek these points within everyday objects, constructing the load-bearing architecture of the inner world.

Drawing on 20th-century intellectual heritage, the exhibition is an interdisciplinary event where the curatorial narrative defines a new approach to contemporary art presentation. In the scenography of the exhibition, the gallery’s architecture serves as an active element: each work exists in a theatrical dialogue with the space and objects, forming a singular, indivisible composition.

Participating Artists: Elza Ābele, Elīna Brese, Dzimstna Bērziņa, Jolanta Geste, Ilze Helgelande, Viktorija Joniene, Beatrise Kaminska, Kristīne Priedīte, Karīna Putra, Mariana Hultoană (RO).

SIMBIOZE at PER FORM 🥛

A little (belated) rewind to the Simbioze exhibit at @per.form_____ —big love to the artists who brought their plein air visions back to the city scene, the incredible performance artists, the DJs who kept it pulsing, and, obviously, to everyone who pulled up.

Enjoy 🥛
