Today, on National Farmers Day, we honor the hands that tend the soil and the people who understand that growing food is, first and foremost, a responsibility to the land.

At the heart of Paradise Farms is our head grower and keeper of the land, @KarlaDascal, whose vision has always been rooted in a simple belief: healthy soil grows healthy food, and the way we care for the land shapes the nourishment we share with our community.

Alongside our dedicated farmers, Karla continues to cultivate a living ecosystem guided by regenerative and biodynamic principles, the rhythms of the seasons and a deep respect for nature’s cycles.

Today and every day, we honor the farmers working to restore the health of our soil, regenerate our ecosystems and grow food that truly nourishes. Their work is about so much more than feeding us. It’s about protecting the land, rebuilding our food system and cultivating a healthier future for generations to come.

An exceptional egg is the result of everything that comes before it.

From the breeds we thoughtfully raise to how our hens live and what they’re fed, each choice plays a role.

Our hens live outdoors on sun-raised pastures.

Rotationally grazed across fresh grass as part of our regenerative farming practices.

Allowing them to forage naturally while giving the land time to rest and regenerate.

But how they live is only part of what goes into producing an exceptional egg.

Even with access to fresh pasture and natural forage, hens cannot forage for everything they need nutritionally. Their diet requires additional sources of protein and essential nutrients.

That’s why we developed our own custom feed.

A few weeks ago, we shared a little more about the relationships behind the food we thoughtfully source beyond our own farm.

Those relationships are at the heart of the Paradise Farms Seal. A commitment to knowing where our food comes from. How it is grown and raised. Who is behind it. And the practices that bring it to our table.

Now, we’re taking you along with us.

Meet Nina and Jonathan. Award-winning cheesemakers behind @bobolinkdairyandbakehouse.

On their 186-acre regenerative farm in New Jersey, artisan cheese begins with the land. Their cattle are 100% grass-fed and their raw milk cheeses are made using traditional old-world methods. Cultures. Salt. Time. A patient process that honors the integrity of the food from pasture to wheel.

That connection between land, animal and craft is what brought Karla—our lead grower and steward of the land—to Bobolink. There she hand-selects raw cow’s milk cheeses to bring back to Paradise Farms.

Because when we know where our food comes from, we can taste the difference that responsible stewardship, traditional skill and genuine care make.

I only know Karla Dascal because @_oren raves about Paradise Farms when he is in Miami … what they grow, what they share and, especially, Karla’s true “getting it”.

That got my attention … also, any opportunity we have to get to know more about (and celebrate) Kind Food heroes, the better off we will be (my belief, anyway).

Karla understands something we all ought to … food is connection … to soil, water, animals, farmers, our bodies, our communities, and one another.

Karla’s path to Paradise Farms wasn’t a tidy and linear career plan. She came from the high-speed world of event design and production and, through her own questioning about health, began changing the way she lived and eventually the work she chose to do. That personal transformation led to The Sacred Space Miami and to her stewardship of Paradise Farms, now a regenerative, ROC and USDA Certified Organic farm in South Florida.

What I also appreciate so much love is that the transformation left her with way better questions … ones that allow us to now benefit from them.

Our interview goes beyond Kind Food. Karla talks about curiosity, stewardship, participation, friendship, parenting, trusting yourself, and what nature teaches us when we stop trying to control everything.

I especially appreciate her reminder that organic is not an end to a conversation and real food does not have a future simply because we want it to. But, we have to participate in creating that future.

Why local honey?

Local honey is a reflection of the landscape around us. Bees forage nectar and pollen from the flowers and plants growing within their environment, creating a food that is uniquely connected to place.

For generations, honey has been valued as a traditional remedy and part of seasonal wellness practices, particularly during flu and allergy season.

Over the past years , Karla—our lead grower and steward of the land—has traveled across the country, visiting our farms and those of our partner farms, while spending time with independent farmers, ranchers, growers, cheesemakers, artisans, and producers whose values align with our own.

These relationships allow us to expand what we grow and offer while remaining deeply intentional about where our food comes from, how it is grown and raised, and the people behind it.

One of the most tragically underutilized ingredients in the South. Not only are they absolutely gorgeous, they have a lovely peanut flavor that can be kicked tf up with a little (or a lottle) sprinkle of koji salt. Also not entirely sure why micro greens people aren’t offering peanut shoots. (Okra shoots are awesome too now that we are on the subject of what needs to be grown but isn’t.)
