At Heliotropic 2, all of the lighting fixtures were controlled by @teenageengineering gear: the ability to pan the moving heads, adjust the speed of chases, and control the color washes was all mapped to a series of buttons across TE devices.

Chataigne was used to translate MIDI into OSC messages for grandMA3. This allowed the OP-XY, TX-6, and two EP-133 KO II units to function as live lighting controllers.

With the lighting booth visibly fixed within the dance floor, attendees became interested in the “playability” of the lights throughout the night.

Read more about our technical overview with a full gear list, lighting control units and software programming in our Heliotropic PDF, out now. 📖🌞

you all queened out so hard at the @__makeroom collab that we landed our first article in the press! here’s some of our favorite pics of you from juneteenth <3

also so so happy to announce that we raised over $2k for @sfblackpride & the marsha p. johnson institute!

this all started because we wanted to create a space where our diverse friend group could all show up, all belong, and all dance and jump and scream the words together. it makes us sooooo happy to see so many of you doing the same with us 😭🫶

save some energy after this weekend — we’re going to do it all again Thursday for QUEEN OUT PRIDE!! 😚
