When heading for a 7000m expedition, you prepare for more than the summit.

5000m can unexpectedly become a holding pattern. You may find yourself stuck at high altitude for days or weeks. An #unprecedented weather system moves in. The #blizzard doesn’t clear. Temperatures keep dropping.

These are the conditions where your sleep system becomes paramount — when warmth, protection and recovery are critical as you wait out the weather for another window to climb and push hard again.

Get your sub-zero down sleeping bags and inflatable mats at Trek Kit India.

Devi Darshan
Mt.Nanda Devi 7816

First ascent on this day, 1936.08.29; Nanda Devi (7816 m) by a British-American party.

Nanda Devi (Hindi: नन्दा देवी) is the second highest mountain in India and the highest entirely within the country (Kangchenjunga being on the border of India and Nepal); owing to this geography it was considered the highest known mountain in the world until computations on Dhaulagiri by western surveyors in 1808. It was also the highest mountain in India before Sikkim joined the Indian Union. It is located in the state of Uttarakhand, between the Rishiganga valley on the west and the Goriganga valley on the east. Its name means Bliss-Giving Goddess. The peak is regarded as the patron-goddess of the Uttarakhand Himalaya. In acknowledgement of its religious significance and for the protection of its fragile ecosystem, the peak as well as the circle of high mountains surrounding it—the Nanda Devi sanctuary—were closed to both locals and climbers in 1983. The surrounding Nanda Devi National Park was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1988.

𝑹𝒐𝒐𝒑𝒌𝒖𝒏𝒅 𝑹𝒆𝒐𝒑𝒆𝒏𝒔. 🏔️✨

Some trails are never forgotten. They simply wait… until the mountains decide it’s time to welcome us back.

After years of silence, the legendary Roopkund Trek is once again open, inviting dreamers, wanderers, and mountain lovers to walk through ancient forests, endless bugyals, and the breathtaking high Himalayas.

But with this privilege comes a responsibility.

A Gentle Request to Every Trek Leader, Agency & Traveller 🤍

Roopkund is more than a trekking destination—it is a fragile Himalayan landscape, shaped over centuries and entrusted to us for only a brief moment.

As we return, let us walk with gratitude.

Leave nothing behind except footprints.
Take nothing away except memories.
Let the flowers bloom where they belong.
Let the silence remain unbroken.
Let every stream flow as pure as we found it.

The future of Roopkund will not be decided by policies alone—it will be written by the choices we make on every single trek.

May we choose respect over convenience.
Conservation over commercialization.
Purpose over popularity.

The Himalayas have always given us more than we can ever repay. The least we can do is leave them exactly as they welcomed us.

Let’s make Roopkund’s reopening a celebration of responsible adventure, where every step reflects our love for the mountains.

Because the greatest legacy a trekker can leave is an untouched trail for the next generation. 🌿
