Summer came and went but I’m feeling left with so much warmth.

In the final chapter of our Nourishment series, we heard from @jasminerashae around intentional movement.

She dove into her yoga instructor practice to offer a soft landing for Black and Brown people in a space where representation is too often missing. Jasmine shared a beautiful reminder to be patient and loving with our bodies as we age and as our abilities evolve. She does so much, teaching yoga students, facilitating classes, building her small business, and ultimately listening and loving the people in her life. It was a gift to be in the room, witnessing her joy and vulnerability.

We also got styled by @refind_ashley from @refind. I got to wear a fun Rick Owens top and silk vintage YSL pants.

I left each of our events this summer beaming. Every guest speaker offered moments of reflection and celebration, inviting us to think, create, eat, and move with intentionality. I feel deeply honored that so many new and old friends came together to be part of this series.

I hope you left feeling nourished in ways you didn’t even know you needed. Until next time.

As a self-proclaimed food critic, it’s no surprise that food would find its way into Salon. Priscilla and I dreamt about incorporating food into what we do for a while now. It’s actually the origin of our Nourishment series. We thought about a summer of food but then wanted to expand to include other ways we can nourish ourselves.

I was particularly excited about this chapter because food is deeply rooted to my identity and my connection to the people I love. My parents showed me that preparing a meal for someone is a true form of care, and as I got older I came to fully celebrate this. Food is about joy, celebration, nourishment, and at the foundation, it is about our shared humanity. Those closest to me know that I’ll enjoy a meal out by myself but I’m often emotional seeing others eat alone, because it’s so vulnerable and honest. We all need to eat.

For chapter 3, we featured my dear friend and multitalented @kasspangler. Both mixed and from the Midwest, meeting Kass a few years ago gifted me an unspoken bond and gentle understanding of myself as I navigated life in Seattle. She’s been a supporter and cheerleader of Salon from the beginning so this was a special one.

It was a joy to see friends help this event come to life and a testament to who Kass is. She partnered with @raindogfarm to create a stunning food art installation where people got to gather and nibble. @greenteleaf, @laurenraewilcox, @inthecomfortof_, @m4rth4_5t3w3rt, @lydiaaugerot also shared their talents, which was a beautiful reminder of the love and care in this circle.

Thank you Kass for sharing your talents and honest thoughts with us. We are better for it.

Also, thank you to @theshopbyporter for hosting us in your space, and especially Stephanie for supporting us and being our confidant from day one.

And a special thank you to my Salon other half, @macaronifro for always being up for a late night bite to dream up what comes next.

Our Salon friends are truly amazing. I’m continuously humbled and grateful. See you October 4th.

Location is everything. The scout is the secret weapon.

Before I even think about camera settings, I’m thinking about space.

Where the light falls, where the movement happens, where the story lives.
The right location isn’t just a backdrop, it’s a co-director.

The scout is where the vision starts to lock in. It’s where you figure out how to make the ordinary feel cinematic. Where to chase golden hour, or avoid the mid-day blast.

Great location scouting saves time, solves problems, and sparks creativity. Every strong shoot I’ve ever had started with a solid scout.

Location is the mood. The energy. The blueprint.
