In her latest body of work, Kass Reich explores the space between representation and abstraction through layered paintings rooted in memory, place, and perception. Working with oil paint, chalk, and cold wax on wood panel, Reich builds and obscures each surface through gestural marks, textured layers, and an earthy palette. Drawing from landscapes, people, and experiences that have shaped her life, she distills familiar subjects into evocative fragments that move between recognition and ambiguity. The resulting works reflect on the shifting nature of memory, inviting viewers to consider the space between the remembered and the imagined.
