Kat and I wanted to go on a serendipitous adventure while I visited her for a weekend in Seattle!

We settled on throwing a party with 24 hours of prep where every invitee had to bring the most creative person they knew. We called it a “Chainlink⛓️‍💥⛓️ Party” with every person representing another link on the chain of creative people.

The end result was magical :)

Our @tedxutaustin talk “The American Dream is Making You Lonely” is officially live! This year Gavin and I were presented with the incredible opportunity to write a TEDx talk and step onto the stage together at our alma mater, which made it even more special.

Throughout our years of full-time travel and running a business bringing people together on international group trips, the most important lesson we learned from our adventures was this: no bucket list destination will make you feel more fulfilled. Meaning won’t come from the act of travel or self-care but instead from community.

While a loneliness crisis has been growing in our home country, we have embarked on a journey to create experiences abroad to purposefully bring people together. Some of these trips are a week long and some are a month long for people working remotely. Regardless, exploring together, eating meals as a group, spending quality time away from screens, being inspired to have deep conversations, and broadening our perspectives is intended to contrast with the often isolating and individualistic culture that we have experienced back at home at times. The results are real friendships, real support, and real changes in each of our hearts after each TWC trip. 🖤

Then we realized that we could bring that human connection home too, and we’ve increased our efforts to host meet ups, join clubs in our home base, and to build more a community in Colorado and around the USA that’s as strong as the TWC travel community. It has been life changing.

Thank you to the TWC community for inspiring us one conversation at a time. We love you all so much. This talk represents months (or really years) of reflection and vulnerability. There are a few embarrassing stories in there. 😅 We’d be honored if you took a few minutes to watch. If it resonates with you, feel free to share it, and please let us know what you think.

Thank you @tedx_official and the TEDxUTAustin team!
