@aawicatlofficial is honored to welcome B. Monét as a keynote panelist for our Politics of Black Women in Film panel. B. Monét is an award-winning filmmaker, visionary storyteller, and passionate advocate for elevating women’s voices—particularly Black women—in media. Her work spans film, television, and branded content, with a directorial voice that is poetic, bold, and deeply rooted in truth. She made history as the first winner of the Queen Collective, a short film initiative founded by Queen Latifah in partnership with Procter & Gamble and Tribeca Studios, which led to the debut of her film Ballet After Dark on BET and the Tribeca Film Festival stage. B. Monét’s storytelling has garnered acclaim for centering themes of healing, identity, and resilience, and her work has been featured by HBO, NBC, Essence, and more. In addition to her creative endeavors, she is a mentor and speaker, committed to shifting industry paradigms and increasing representation both behind and in front of the camera. With her unique blend of artistry and activism, B. Monét continues to inspire and uplift the next generation of Black women filmmakers.🩷

Additionally, I have tagged some amazing Black women directors who are being highlighted through @i_d’s Black Debutantes program in the UK. I would greatly appreciate your taking the time to watch their films. 🎬As a Black woman director, I’m part of the lexicon of the Black women directors who came before me. Let us continue to pay homage to them and their work. 🎬🙏🏾🫶🏾

See you this weekend, honeybees! 🐝🖤🌟💛⭐️💥
