Feliz Día de la Fiesta de Santiago!! A year ago yesterday I finished the Frances Route of El Camino de Santiago!! And I miss it more than ever! Looking back on this pilgrimage today reminds me of how great a gift it was to experience all the simple beauties of life along the way. With all the uncertainties of my life I am reminded of how Jesus gifts us with such goodness and beauty through our suffering. And who am I to question His love for me and His forever faithfulness when he gifted me with such a redemptive walk along the way of St. James! Toda la gloria a Dios y Buen Camino por siempre 🇪🇸🫶

It was truly one of the most mentally challenging things I’ve had to do. Wouldn’t have made it without the wisdom this group shared and their endless love. Saint James, pray for us 🙏

Buen Camino! 🇪🇸🐚

A reflection from my El Camino de Santiago pilgrimage:

As days went on the miles got easier and I struggled less. I don’t know if I just got used to it all or just learned to accept the suffering that I was dealing with along the way. Or maybe I grew to become stronger with each stride. But there is something to be said about the feeling of your load (referring to my 20 lb backpack I carried along the way) becoming lighter even though the physical weight doesn’t change and the 180 mile path doesn’t get easier. It reminds me of a poem called “Footprints in the Sand.” This poem describes an image of a person walking along the sand in where there are 2 visible sets of footprints showing that Jesus was walking with them. But they soon come to realize that in their lowest moment there is only one set of footprints visible. And in this they begin to think that Jesus has abandoned them at their greatest hour of need. However, in truth it was because Jesus was actually carrying them in their lowest point when they couldn’t walk anymore from the weight of their suffering. When I ponder on my experience on the El Camino de Santiago pilgrimage I think of this image because I didn’t realize it in the moment but Jesus was carrying the weight of all the suffering I was taking on mentally and physically. And not only that but He gave me good friends on my Camino who lifted me up and took some weight off of my shoulders. And it is not until now that I realize that they were solely being vessels of God’s goodness and reminding me of how beloved I truly am which is something I struggle to grasp and understand. And through all of that, in my ending reflections on the Camino I am left with these rhetorical questions: How could I not believe that Jesus would carry any load for me when he already died on the cross out of his unfathomable and divine love for me? How could I doubt when his love and kindness and mercy has been so prevalent in my life?

Gracias Jesús mío por este Camino De Santiago! 🫶
