This show!!! I have been meaning to post about it for too long and now there are ONLY TWO DAYS left!! It is not to be missed . MOTHERMOTHER at @sandersoncontemporaryart @lcowpertwait Congratulations to you all , brilliant curation @nattozer and @michellereid._ The show includes a multigeneration of artists, addressing care systems, kinship, M/otherhood - it is clever, funny, thoughtful and so necessary now. Included are very special works by @philippa_blair and @moniquelaceyartist both somewhere out there in the universe now . I did not take enough photos to show the multitude of very good work - and apologies to those I haven’t mentioned. Do go and see it - it is uplifting and the best of what it means to be an artist, the gathering of wild thoughts, community and support for each other. ❤️

What do you do with land nobody else wants? Turn it into a retreat centre, of course.

That's what Dave and Marilyn did with two hectares of steep, south-facing land half an hour out of Raglan. Scrubby and covered in pines, it was no good for anything, according to most locals. But Dave and Marilyn saw the potential.

Two years on, the couple have created @pumula_raglan, an off-grid retreat with an eco-built yoga studio, sauna and spring-fed plunge pool, attracting guests from all over the region and creating alternative income streams in the process.

It's a story about what's possible on the land with hard work, passion and an ability to see the value in nature's simplicity.

Sometimes, when people hear about On the Land for the first time, they think it's some kind of budget rural rag.

But when it turns up in their letterbox, they realise that they're getting some of the best photography and traditional storytelling in NZ.
