Thrilled and honoured to have been shortlisted for Emerging Designer of the Year at the @ausdesignreview IDEA Awards.

It’s really special to be recognised alongside such an incredible group of designers.

It’s been a long, twisty path to the place I find myself in now, and all of those routes and detours have made our studio what it is, with its own flavour and way of seeing the world.

I get to create spaces every day that make the dumpster fire of a world a little more bearable for people. Places to gather or retreat. To feel less lonely or to find some much-needed solace. A space that makes someone feel safer or seen. A little world created just for them.

And I get to create these spaces alongside an incredible team @kristina_tsalikis and @harrwil, who bring their own ideas, talent and weirdness to everything we do.

Thank you @ausdesignreview and @alvinpwu, and to the jury @danielboddam @akinatelier @dmespiritu @shaunlockyerarchitects @foolscapstudio @dko_architecture for the recognition. It means a bloody lot ❤️

Kateri girls | Alongside Kate’s wedding dress, I also created dresses for three of her guests.

I loved seeing them all together on the day.

Late last year, Kate came to me with a @lucy_folk dress she absolutely adored and wanted reimagined for her wedding day. Together, we transformed the dress into a skirt and created a custom top to complete the look, designing something that felt entirely her own while still holding onto parts of the piece she loved.

Using fabric from the original dress, we created a veil, allowing elements of the garment to continue their story in a new way. Even the smallest details were considered, with offcuts from the skirt lining used to wrap her bouquet. As the look evolved, we added a bespoke Kateri jacket in our signature curved sleeve, a matching tie for Henry, and a custom cover for the bar cart that became home to their wedding cake, bringing everything together in a way that felt uniquely theirs.

One of my favourite parts of custom work is finding thoughtful ways to honour the pieces people already love. Creating something new while preserving parts of a garment’s history makes each piece feel deeply personal, and this look was no exception.

Kate knew exactly what she wanted from the very beginning, which made her an absolute dream to work with. Every detail felt considered, intentional and completely true to her. I loved every second of bringing this look to life, and it was even more special to be there on the day and watch it all come together.

When it was finally time to dance, Kate changed into a pair of Asics adorned with hand-sewn flowers - a detail that felt so perfectly her.

Kate, thank you for trusting me with such an important moment. I adore you.
