2 years.

When people ask, “Where are you from?” I proudly say SD. And then I correct myself: well, I grew up on the East Coast, but I lived my last 12 years in SD.

That was my home base after my home base. That’s where I moved from. That was my forever home for a while. Crazy to think that it wasn’t forever—and now I’m building a new home base.

Chicago, especially this last year of these two years, has changed me. I’m feeling home.

Coworkers turned into friends. Friends outside of work turned into my chosen crew. People I meet out aren’t forgotten. People from home have come to visit me and gotten to experience this new chapter with me. I’ve spent a lot of time alone, and I still do. I get to travel home more. I got a new job, a promotion, and somehow through all of it, I’m still moving with the same purpose I had two years ago.

There’s more.

There’s more to a new city.
There’s more to a new job.
There’s more to new friendships.
There’s more to people coming into your life.
There’s more to trusting the universe.
There’s more to growth.

I’m realizing that home can change. It can be more than one place, and it can be something you build along the way.

I’m where I’m supposed to be.
