There’s something powerful about commitment to a practice.

Unlike a Vinyasa practice, where the sequence may change from day to day and invites creativity and spontaneity, Ashtanga asks us to return to a set sequence. The postures may remain the same, but we don’t.

With each practice, we have the opportunity to refine our drishti (point of focus), steady our breath (regulate our nervous system), deepen our concentration (dharana), and become more present. Dharana — the sixth limb of yoga — reminds us that sustained concentration can eventually become meditation (dhyana). And with time, the seeds we plant on the mat begin to reveal themselves off the mat.

Not because we are desperately striving to become something different, but because we learn to embrace the practice, the process, and the person we meet along the way.

These moments from an Introduction to Ashtanga with @amandaaatun reminded me of that. I was moved by the focus, humility, and dedication of the students, and deeply grateful to witness and be part of this community.

Grateful for the practice.
Grateful for the people.
Grateful to keep returning. 🙏🏽

“My my my what a beautiful day, to be alive live live in a beautiful way” 🥹 After playing music for years with @clayton.connolly in ceremonial spaces we finally took the stage for a public performance as @gypseasofinfinity - Clayton’s new music project - give it a follow!

Produced by @surfdog_dkm records!

The 15 track medicine music album is available now on all streaming platforms! You’ll hear my percussion & backup vocals on some of the tracks 😁

That was one of the funnest and most meaningful shows I’ve played in a while and definitely looking forward to more. Happy to be a Gypsea of Infinity 🙌🏼

Shout out to @thetemplateob for curating such a funky and fun venue for artists to perform and for having the nicest most chill sound guy I’ve ever met. love you guys.

@agape.sanctuary - soul community
@katelliss - vocals & acrobats
@dustinvalentine - bass, djembe, giant
@mystic.rhythms.music - percussion + vocals + vibes
