Birthday week for 2 of my favourite people in the world.

Mum, there is no one like you in this crazy world. You are a bit like the Holy Spirit 😏 ALWAYS helping people.. bringing wisdom & comfort & peace wherever you go.. thank you for leading our family.. thank you for loving our kids.. thank you for your quirkiness & for being the best looking 62 year old I’ve ever seen. Proverbs 31 talks about children who rise up & call their mother blessed, and that’s exactly how we feel. We honour you today and always xx happy birthday

Been a bit quiet on the ol’ insta feed.. but my dad turned 60 last month. We got to celebrate with just a couple of precious people..
.
I’m really grateful to God for my Dad. He’s been a constant source of wisdom & strength over the years, in all seasons of life. He’s also been the source of sheer silliness & chaos. 🤯😳
.
He’s weird & wonderful.
Cheeky & clever.
Passionate & profound.
Generous & grace giving.
.
I’ve seen the faithfulness of God outworked through Bruce Robbo so many times.. Growing up, Dad always showed that he cared deeply about the details of our lives. From coaching our netball teams, 🤷🏻‍♀️ to writing & directing our school plays, (go figure) to picking up all our friends for church in the Mitsubishi Starwagon, teaching us scripture & the 4 guitar chords necessary to play most pop songs.. We had lots of fights.. lots of apologies.. lots of family meetings.. lots of games of Robbo ball on hols.. lots of hilarious moments that I look back on & wonder what on earth we were doing. 😆🤷🏻‍♀️

In more recent years Dad, you’ve become Pa to my kids, my gigging partner, volunteer home-interior painter, theology lecturer & mostly just a dear friend to Chris & I.
.
As I’ve gotten older I’ve realised how much I’ve drawn from your wackiness & wisdom in my own parenting.. what is incredible is that you drew on the Fatherhood of God for your own fathering.. He was really the ultimate Dad for you, & I’m ever thankful that you’ve kept your heart soft to His leading & shaping over the years.

So, here’s to being 60 years old. You’re not allowed to retire, yet. 😏🙏🥳 But I am looking forward to seeing you & mum becoming grey nomads & touring Australia as a traveling folk duo.

Just a casual drive-by baby shower today.. 🤷🏻‍♀️😭😆🙏 I will never ever ever forget this moment... Some amazing women who have journeyed with me through many seasons of life decided to drive past my house sporting the tackiest of decos, hooting & hollering to remind me that I’m not isolated at all.. actually we’re surrounded by love & community & kindness & joy.
