POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

I turn 40 this month, sheesh. Truthfully, I’m looking forward to getting older. I still have a lot to learn, but I do know this…you are capable of more than you think you are. Go on an adventure, hang with your friends, and try something crazy. Traveling around the world to tell stories, I’ve noticed that the humans who risk it all to live fully, are the ones that actually do!

I’ve always loved this quote…

Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently... Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do. -Steve Jobs

We honor the women who came before us—and those still rising.

Left | Susan Quinn Haughian
In 1952, Susan Quinn Haughian was featured in The Saturday Evening Post as a national story titled “The Cattle Queen of Montana.” She famously donned a dress only for the photograph—her real work was done on the land. By that time, Susan controlled more than 240,000 acres, with thousands of cattle and sheep roaming freely. She was later known as “Montana’s Favorite Redhead” in Collier’s Magazine, a rare public acknowledgment of a woman who built economic power through land ownership and agricultural leadership at a time when few women were recognized for doing so.

Middle | Liz Marchi
Featured on Episode 42 of the IWD406 Podcast @theiwd406podcast , Liz Marchi represents modern economic leadership rooted in Montana. She is a pioneer in building access to equity capital and high-value startups in nontraditional locations. As the founder and long-time leader of Frontier Angels, Liz helped seed more than $20 million in early-stage capital, proving that innovation, investment, and scalable businesses don’t have to originate on the coasts. Her work expanded opportunity, stewardship, and economic resilience across the region.

Right | Kate Stephens
An upcoming guest on the IWD406 Podcast, Kate Stephens of Kate’s Ag is one of the most influential rising voices for Women in Agriculture in Montana. Representing the next generation, Kate brings visibility, leadership, and modern storytelling to agriculture—bridging tradition with innovation and shaping how women in ag are seen, heard, and valued today. We’re excited to share her story soon.

The Common Thread
Across generations, these women are connected by more than industry—they each built or are building economic welfare, community impact, and opportunity through land, capital, and leadership. Their stories reflect Montana women shaping the state’s economy in real time—past, present, and future.

IWD406 Presents: Montana Women in Land, Capital, and Community
This is legacy in motion.

@iwd406 ❤️ IWD406 is a Montana-based women’s storytelling and media platform dedicated to amplifying the voices of women shaping business, culture, wellness, leadership, and community across Montana through podcasts, editorial features, digital publications, and community-driven conversations.
