Today was an emotional day for me. I finished my last active treatment for breast cancer. It’s been a long year of treatment. Instead of sharing all of the bad, hard, unfair, and scary things that I’ve faced in the last year, I want to share all of the good. Despite this life altering diagnosis, I was still able to find joy and most times it was in the people that I’ve met along the way or the ones who were standing right beside me. I’m a better person because of this journey.💕🎀

When Kate, JoJo, and Nicole laced up for the Chicago Half Marathon, they weren’t just running 13.1 miles—they were running with purpose, raising over $5,000 for The Breasties’ No #Breastie Left Behind fund. I wish I had the words to truly capture what Camp Breastie is. It’s not just a camp. It’s not just a cancer event. It’s a life changing experience.

This was my first time attending, and out of hundreds of people, I only knew a few. I didn’t know what to expect, and honestly, I was a little nervous.

Before camp, I was at a very low point. I was juggling multiple breast cancer related events, trying to navigate a tough job market, preparing for my little sister’s preventative double mastectomy, and figuring out a new treatment game plan for myself. I was overwhelmed and burned out.

As I headed to the bus pickup I kept thinking, “Maybe this was a mistake. I’m not sure I’m in the right headspace for this.” Now, I feel so grateful and so lucky that I went.

The Breastie community is unlike anything else. It’s a space where people get what you’ve been through. Where you feel safe enough to take off the mask and just be. Everyone is welcomed, no matter your age, diagnosis, or background.

Jessica something that really hit me at camp, she said “We are so lucky to be able to experience this community, connection and closeness. Some people will never experience this feeling in their life and we get to.”

You form lifelong connections with people you never would’ve met if it weren’t for cancer. That’s why the motto “Worst club, best members” hits so hard for all of us.

I’ll never forget this experience or the people I met at Camp Breastie. I’m deeply grateful to the Breasties who truly saw me, held space for my pain, and accepted me exactly as I am in this moment in my journey. You’ll never be forgotten and you’ll always be with me.

I hope to see you all next year. I can’t wait to make even more memories with this incredible community. Keep spreading that Breastie magic✨💙🫐🦋🫂

Oh Camp Breastie, you are the restoration to a weary soul. To be seen, to be heard, to be understood and to simply just be my full out cancery self for a few days with people who “get it” is the best medicine I could have asked for.

There were times earlier this year when I had significant liver progression that I was afraid I wouldn’t see you again. But things started to turn around and I was DETERMINED to be a cabin leader, share my voice and add another fruit tattoo to my arm. (Here’s looking at you 🍎Apples 2025🍏 and 🍇Grapes 2024🍇!!!)

I am so grateful for the community that @the_breasties has created. It’s brought so many wonderful people into my life and I can’t imagine doing this without them. Thank you @paige_previvor @trish_newyorkcity @brimaj and @alliebrumel for providing this space for us and all the hard work that you do!

I just want to remind all my Breasties out there that whether you are a caregiver, previvor, survivor, currently undergoing treatment, newly diagnosed or thriving and vibing with Stage 4 - YOU BELONG and you are SO INCREDIBLY LOVED!!!

✨Camp Breastie ✨
You forever have my heart 💗

Breastie Dreamland 2025 the year I reconnected with some wonderful cabin mates and added more! This camp and organization have been a godsend on my Previvor journey. I can’t thank the community enough for all the friends I’ve made, all the things I’ve learned in advocacy, and the activities I got to lead this year. Can’t wait to see you all next year. I approached this year with the attitude of embracing new things starting with the 8am cold plunge to the outfit I wore to Breastival. Thank you for accepting me no matter what. 🏕️💜

No trending audio. Just real vibes.

First and foremost, I hope I added a drop to your cup this weekend. That was my intention, to hold space, to move with you, and to remind you of your own strength.

Year two sharing my love of health, fitness, and spin with @the_breasties at Camp Breastie. I’ve sometimes wondered if I truly belong, if I’m intruding on a space already deeply rooted in connection. But each time I show up, I’m reminded that support, love, and movement are part of my purpose.

Before my second visit to Camp, I had a chance conversation with @trish_newyorkcity @paige_previvor two members of the leadership team, at @milaknightsings song release and that moment turned into two years of bringing spin to this incredible space.

I’ve been in a bit of a teaching funk lately, but spending last Friday and Saturday morning with this beautiful community of 30 cancer Previvors, Survivors, Thrivers, and Caregivers helped me reconnect with why I teach in the first place.

We kicked off Friday’s ride with a playlist honoring Caribbean artists. A piece of my own story I got to share.
To EVERY Breastie who showed up for themselves: thank you. You filled my cup in more ways than you know ❤️

No better way to spend a scan weekend than in my favorite city with some of my Camp Breastie girlies celebrating our girl Jennifer's 50th bday with disco balls, bubble guns, dancing, singing, satin sheet water beds for #lazybitchdancing when the energy goes and cozy 24 hr diners in the snow. 😎😌🫶🏾

And now, a moment for ✨the dress✨

In typical Kate & Brett fashion, this is no ordinary dress. This dress was first worn by Kate’s grandma, then her mom, then her aunt. The seamstress was so careful handling it and making it perfect for Kate, too. She finished the look with the same earrings & pearls that her grandma wore. It was such an honor to be there to watch her mom button all the tiny buttons & her daughter tie her shoes. (Really, I can hardly talk about it without getting sentimental. 🥹)

The getting ready process was so much fun to capture. So many laughs, the excitement, the feels- @katestepsforward thank you for letting me be a fly on the wall of your special day’s special morning 🤍
