Hi everyone, welcome back to episode 3 of Spray Sessions!

In the last session we talked about warming up as we get on the wall, but it’s just as important to practice getting off the wall safely.

For a lot of beginner to intermediate climbers, the fear of falling often times prevents them from fully committing to moves high off the ground.

So for this episode I wanted to highlight the importance of rehearsing falls, to help lessen the fear we experience on boulders.

Here are some tips for your next fall therapy session:

- Breathe! Exhaling helps cue the body to relax before letting go from the wall
- Avoid landing with joints fully locked out (elbows, knees, etc) Don’t try to stop all of your momentum with your arms only
- Instead learn to disperse the impact across the mat (roll through your ankles, knees, and torso)
- When in doubt, phone a friend! A little bit of reassurance goes a long way, especially when it comes from people you trust with your own safety.

The more we practice falls, the more prepared we are to take them. Let’s not let the fear of falling hold us back from trying our hardest.

DM or comment if you’re interested in being featured on a future episode

Until then, try hard and have fun!
