Fantastic gig from David Byrne at the Piece Hall in Halifax. One of my all time top 3 gigs ever, one being from 1978 and two from the last 12 months. Can you guess the other two?

✨ THANK YOU 🌿 🙏 ...To the wonderful team at the @exeterphoenix for sharing their beautiful workshop space with us today. 💤 During the Sleep Hygiene, Mindfulness & Tea Blending Workshop we explored different herbal remedies as well as lifestyle, dietary and supplement support for insomnia, anxiety and overall wellbeing. 👩🏻‍🔬 We shared candid conversations about what is helpful for some and perhaps not for others. 🍵 After enjoying a cup of @honeysuckleherbal's signature Sweet Dreams Tea, we discussed the various flavours and aromas of different plants. 🌼 Afterwards, everyone created their own bespoke herbal tea blend (for their unique health needs; be it sleep onset insomnia or sleep maintenance insomnia). 😁 It was an informative and fun afternoon. Friendly for beginners and herb enthusiasts alike! 🍂 I am running another hands-on herbal medicine making workshop at the @exeterphoenix in October. For more information and to book your spot visit the phoenix's website. Link in bio. 🤓 I hope to see you there! #exeter #herbalist #herbalmedicine #herbalremedies #herbaltea #sleephygiene #devon #workshop

Last March 8 was a very special day at the @exeterphoenix as I met 22 wonderful women who came to my #Arpilleristas workshop to explore textiles and learn the story of these incredibly brave, creative and resilient women in the 70’s who resisted one of the most difficult times in Chilean history through their defiant #Arpilleras, carefully embroidered sacs that depicted scenes of Chile’s dictatorships times and the struggle of thousands of grand mothers, mothers, daughters, wives and partners of men and women who disappeared during these times. Thank you so much to all these fantastic women who came to my workshop and dedicated their morning or afternoon to taking interest in the stories of these women and this very important part of Latin American art history, and creating such meaningful responses to the Arpilleras’ work and what it means for us to be women today and in our own contexts. 💜 Thank you specially to @kathymnorris for making this workshop a reality and planning it with me. I always take this time of year to thank her for her continuous hard work and dedication to making space for other women like me to teach art workshops at the Phoenix and specially, for allowing me to be part of such an important arts cultural centre where I feel my experience as a Latin American woman, my work and my passion for the arts is acknowledged, valued and appreciated. I love working with you and being an art tutor at the Phoenix! Phoenix! 💜The cover image of this reel is a piece made by the daughter of a Chilean women who had to flee Chile due to its dictatorship seeking refuge in Spain. It’s a tribute to her brave mother. The fact that she came to my workshop along with her young daughters moved me to the core. Thank you to that beautiful family of strong women for coming! This song originally wrote by #VioletaParra is sung by her grand daughter Javiera, as a special thank you to you and all women who came. 💜 🇨🇱💪🏽

René (Residente), a Puerto Rican 🇵🇷 rapper and songwriter wrote a song that is both a celebration of life and a reflective moment, a much-needed pause to take in all the things that are happening in his life now. He also explored grief in a way that touched a few nerves inside of me. This line “Y no quiero que se acabe: And I don’t want it to be over” sang in the unique and powerful voice of Silvia Pérez Cruz as well, and “ojalá y que los finales olvidaran terminarse: I hope all endings forget to end” compelled me in such a way I could not help but to think of my time in Exeter and all the wonderful things that happened in my life ever since. I couldn’t help but to feel like René does. Couldn’t help but to think of the feelings that come with waiting for yet another visa to be able to plan my life in England for a few more years and all the lovely projects, ideas, people I want to work with and things I want to make happen. But waiting is all there is, and hoping for the best. For some people, three years is enough time to have experienced a new life leaving abroad, for me it’s truly only just the beginning. No quiero que se acabe 🙏🏽 Exeter, eres tanto que no cabes/ you’re so much that you can’t fit… I’m not sure what the future holds, but if I can stop the clock ticking for a few seconds like this song has done for me, allowing me to stop and sit down with my wish to come true, all I want to say is thank you for giving me a chance to show you what I know, what I’ve learnt, where I come from, and all the things we could continue doing together, and all the people we could continue encouraging to come together, to find their creative selves, to live in harmony, to celebrate our diversities, to do the best we can with this great journey we call life. To all the people in front and behind my camera in these pictures and videos: thank you for making these days such enjoyable ones bringing hope and happiness to my life. “Without gratitude there is no prosperity” Katherine Turner. 🙏🏽

Gratitude, gratitude, gratitude is all I can think of. For absolutely every step I gave this year led me towards a stronger, more resilient and happier version of myself and a more passionate arts educator. 🎨 Special thanks to those who helped me navigate through my 2023 journey. Lovely bit of #StreetArt by @laurarobertsonart as a part of the ‘beach ambience’ outside @positivelightprojects today. Pop along for hands-on painting and the #IndoorMarket of local craftspeople @marketsinexeter …and of course a lovely ice cream! @in_exeter @visitexeter #Crafts #Market #KneePainting A giant pink ice cream cone has been dropped on the pavement in front of a two story mid-century brick and concrete building. In the shade of the recessed ground floor, a group of people are painting, to the left are a couple, walking away from an ice cream vendor.
