POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
Two incredible weeks of calling @chateau_orquevaux home and over a month spent galloping across France have come to an end.

I arrived to my residency with a binder of prints, an empty notebook, a tin of peppermint tea, three pressed leaves with prompts typed by @zoespice, and a paper tablecloth mapped with ideas we began together in Paris.

After rearranging Studio 14 more times than I can count, it finally felt like me — warm lamps, my books on display, and a signed @carlajwms poster for inspiration.

I kept the window cracked open to hear the church bells throughout the day, and when I wasn’t searching for ladybugs or leftover pain au chocolat, I was lingering in the dining hall, talking with everyone and hoping to make someone a hot chocolate or parfait. As meaningful as the solitude was, the time spent with others held even more sweetness.

Looking at the work I brought with me, I realized how much of it has been about touch, connection, and what I’ve held onto and let go of. It felt no coincidence that the most rewarding moments came from sitting on studio floors late into the night, sharing stories, laughter, and vulnerability. My heart grew three sizes, and I’m already missing the hugs of people I didn’t know a month ago.

Open studios felt especially meaningful — the staff installed floating shelves so I could display my prints alongside little stones and shells from home. Seeing other incredible artists take thoughtful time with my work felt like such a gift.

I left with a small stack of writing, meaningful sticky notes, a handful of shot film (and a couple tiny yogurt jars).

Until next time France 🤍
