I’m still an M&P guy… BUT 😂 The Gen 6 Glock 17 is way softer and smoother than I expected it to be… especially with some delicious minimum PF @hitexusa match ammo 😮‍💨 Put a mag through each one and the Glock honestly surprised me. Other than my dumbass running factory ammo through the M&P, so i’ll admit not quite an apples to apples comparison 😵‍💫 I went into this thinking it would be a pretty straightforward comparison, and now the little devil on my shoulder is yelling at me to buy one for funsies So that’s cool… Just what I needed. 😂

Always a good time over there, the guy’s always put up some fun stages, and even with the heat melting us throughout the day, we still made it through it all. Two of my better runs from this weekend’s GCPS Match! Lots of takeaways, need to come into positions more balanced, too much wasted time settling into positions. Need to stop bringing reloads in so close to the body, keeping arms out in front to facilitate vision and flow. Another @gulfcoastpracticalshooters match in the books! @gcpsjeffw & @joegcps really know how to put on a match for every level of shooter, from beginners all the way to GMs. (Looking at you, @mrpann 👀) The first two stages were all about getting the eyes and hands warmed up. Stage 1 was rough around the edges. Too many makeups, hesitation coming in and out of positions, and a lack of shot calling kept me from putting together the run I wanted. Stage 2 was a different story. Movement felt smooth. Vision was there. Transitions felt effortless. Everything was clicking… except for the second open target in that first array. What felt like a clean triple A ended up being an uncalled mike, and judging by the look on our squad’s faces, I wasn’t the only one surprised. Moments like that are a reminder of what makes this sport special. USPSA is built on honesty and integrity. Not just for yourself, but for everyone around you. From the shooters on the line, to the people running the timer and tablet, to the squad members pasting targets in the Florida heat, every piece of this sport depends on people choosing to do the right thing when nobody would know otherwise. You accept the result. You learn from it. Then you move forward. To my squad, Luis, Armando, Susy, Carlos, and Mario, and to the boys who weren’t with us, Micah, Colin, and Stephen: We may not be blood, but I’d stand shoulder to shoulder with every one of you. This caption is a little longer than usual, but if you made it this far, thank you. Hold yourself to your standard. Surround yourself with people who hold themselves to theirs. Build each other up. Support each other. That’s how we all get better.

Learning to be more disciplined and consistent at matches has been harder than I imagined but it’s helping me find my match pace. My homework from this match is more about stage efficiency and little hiccups that cost me time. Normally I would just run or shoot faster to make up for those downfalls but that is no longer the goal. Haven’t been able to shoot as often as I’d like lately so the live fire has to be deliberate.
