Sculpting and experimenting with papier-mache has been incredibly fun and fulfilling, and it’s how I’ve spent most of my time over the past month. Building and sculpting with this and cardboard has reminded me that I have the freedom to make truly anything my heart desires. It connects me back to the what a gift it is to be alive and to be an artist.

Sometimes my own expectations of painting and making “serious” art trap me in a creative rut. But when I allow myself to make whatever brings me joy, to start new projects even through there are…several in-progress pieces…it unlocks me, gives me momentum, and often gives me solutions to those stagnant unfinished pieces.

Also, I love transforming my spiritual/interdimensional experiences into beautiful, magical objects.

Samsara fest did me right ✨ Started, live painted, and finished this new piece over a couple days at the festival! Connected with so many sweetie pies, boogied hard, got to dance with the homie @alexunger_tunes and shout out to my babe @z.arts.exist for looping me into this beautiful place. Vancouver Island is pretty sweet 🥰

Quick painting of this photo @baileyann888 took last night—a fun, loose piece to break up my bigger projects. Wearing my ruffle that @elenacow made me to ask, who is going to @shbangfestival ? 🤡 Come see my LED sculpture “Myceliate” and catch me as a roving Biblically Accurate Angel—slightly different from Ambrosia—disseminating the holy wisdom of beauty, pain, light and darkness. Be not afraid ✨

Meet my sweet baby LED sculpture piece, called “Myceliate”. She’s slightly bigger than 2x4’. The idea for this piece first came to me a year ago, and I’ve been very slowly bringing her to life since then.

I individually sculpted 600 tiny unique pieces, glued those pieces onto pins, painted each pin with hard coat, trimmed each piece to a different length, and pre-poked each hole and then placed each pin, as the pins themselves where not sharp enough to pierce the gessoed, canvas upholstered foam board. So outside of the construction of the box and LED placement, this was 3600 individual small actions.

I had built the fame somewhat haphazardly and installed the LEDs with only only nice setting, and it was almost ready for Ambrosia when Graham @esemplastic_ generously and ambitiously offered to help me rebuild the frame and upgrade the LEDs in less than 48 hours. I couldn’t have rebuilt it on time without him and he has really elevated my ability to run different programs. Very grateful ✨💛

I don’t know how many hundreds of hours this took but it has been a true labor of love, and I’m thrilled with how she turned out 🌈 If you’re going to Cascadia, you’ll see her this weekend!

#trypophobia warning 💛
