Leopold has found his forever home! This absolutely took a full village!
Leopold first came to us through an incredible animal advocate who reached out to see if we had room for this beautiful setter mix. We tried to find him a foster, but no applications came in until the stars truly aligned. Someone we had met years ago at the Alameda Fairgrounds applied, and after staying in touch over the years, they were able to step up and foster Leopold.
They had hoped to adopt him, but the timing wasn’t quite right. When they went on a trip, we found a wonderful dog sitter to care for him, and during that time we posted Leopold again in hopes of finding his forever family. He met a potential adopter, but when it fell through, we were heartbroken.
Then, on New Year’s Eve, everything changed. Leopold met his people and it was instant love. They came back to adopt him, and seeing his happy updates now fills our hearts beyond words. This sweet boy finally has a home where he is truly loved and cherished.
Thank you to everyone who played a part in Leopold’s journey..from saving him from the orchards in Bakersfield, to the boarding facility that cared for him for so long, to his foster family, dog sitter, and finally his forever family. It truly takes a village, and Leopold’s happy ending is proof of that. And now he is named a birch!!! welcome to your pack

Meet Leopold a.k.a. Goose!
This goofy, lovable boy is on the lookout for his forever home! Goose was sadly abandoned in the Orchards of Bakersfield, California, but thanks to some amazing people, he was rescued and brought to a boarding facility. He waited patiently for a home, and while he found a wonderful foster-to-adopt family who loves him dearly, they know he’d thrive even more in a home that’s the perfect match for him.
Goose is a 1–2-year-old Setter mix who’s friendly with both big and small dogs and great with kids. He’s a big goofball with a heart of gold and a curious spirit. Since he’s new to so many things, he’s been experiencing lots of “firsts” — learning to use stairs, seeing a TV for the very first time, and figuring out how to walk on a leash. Everything is new and exciting (and sometimes a little confusing!) for this sweet boy.
Goose is still adjusting to city life and can be nervous in the car understandable given his past but with patience, consistency, and love, he’ll continue to build confidence and trust.
He’s a larger dog who would do best with someone who has the time, space, and heart to help him keep learning about the world.
