If you’ve ever looked at your doorbell camera after I’ve collected your dog and wondered why on earth we’re still standing outside your house... there is usually a reason. And no, I’m not trick or treating a week early 😂

Some dogs come out of that front door READY. They know exactly what’s happening, they know the van is outside and they’d quite happily tow me down the path towards it already on a bit of a sugar high.

And I’m not doing that.

If we start every walk with them dragging me from the front door to the van, we’re getting really good at practising exactly that. But it also means they’re arriving at the van already at 100mph, and then we’re expecting them to suddenly make sensible choices when we get to the park.

So sometimes you’ll see me hanging around for a minute. I’d rather give them a chance to bring that excitement down a notch at the beginning than spend the first ten minutes of the walk trying to find their brain again 😂

That doesn’t mean I need them standing perfectly beside me staring lovingly into my eyes. They’re allowed to be excited! Their walker has arrived, they’re going out with their friends and hopefully that IS one of the exciting bits of their week. I just want to start with a dog who can still vaguely hear me, rather than one riding the sugar high straight into chaos.

And because we see our regular dogs week after week, we get loads of opportunities to practise those little everyday skills while they’re with us. Hopefully some of that starts carrying over into your walks too.

So, be honest... what does your dog look like when they realise it’s walk time? Calmly waiting by the door, or approximately three seconds away from spontaneous combustion? 😂👀

And if you like the idea of your dog’s walks having a little more thought behind them, feel free to drop us a message and have a chat.

Tulley's, we have a problem.. 🎃

We've somehow managed to lose Pudge and Loki amongst the pumpkins! 😅

I don't suppose anyone can help Shadow find his friends?

Looking for my kinda people ✨👀

Hi, I’m Katie,

I’m hoping we have something in common and you may want to connect in one way or another!

I’ll be your go-to friend if you want a girls day filled with animals, photos and a spritz of some sort! 🍹

•A lover of all animals (although biggest phobia of sharks).. 🦈
• A typical horse girl who’d rather be at the yard than anywhere else ✨
• A bad dancer… but doesn’t mean I’m gonna stop dancing 😏
• A photographer always looking for new brands, models and photographers to work with!

Overall just a girly who’d love to build her community with like minded people, make new friends and have a good laugh with!

No top secret!

It’s been a long battle getting Jaggers weight right. He’s older, he’s fussy and can be highly strung but since finding @spillershorsefeeds he’s slowly been thriving. He’s on the senior conditioning mix as he is still in light work as well as the senior apple mash which he absolutely LOVES! I’ve finally found the perfect mix that makes Jags happy and me even happier!

𝗪𝗲 𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝟵 𝗶𝗻 𝗔𝘂𝗴𝘂𝘀𝘁 🎈

And apparently we were too busy with the dogs to mention it properly at the time 😂

Carlen’s Canines & Companions officially started back in 2017, which means we’ve now been serving dogs across Pinner, Harrow, Hillingdon, Northwood and Stanmore for nine years. Which honestly feels slightly mad when I actually think about it.

A LOT has changed since then. What started with just me, fresh out of uni, has grown into a team, a few vans, more qualifications than I care to count and a hell of a lot of learning along the way.

But the best bit has probably been getting to know so many of you through all of it.

We’ve watched your puppies grow into adults and adults turn into oldies. Millie, who many of you know as my shadow, was our very first dog and is still with us today. Clearly she decided we were the best and she wasn’t going anywhere... like so many of our dogs do 😉😂

We’ve helped turn your little land sharks and general menaces into respectable members of the public, looked after them while you disappear off on holiday and used the opportunity to quietly work our way up their favourite-person rankings. We’ve welcomed dog number two (and occasionally three 😂) into families we already know.

Some have been with us through huge chunks of their lives. And inevitably, we’ve been there until it was time to say goodbye to some who very firmly held a piece of our hearts. That bit of the job never gets any easier.

So this is me stopping to appreciate all of that properly. A few weeks late... whilst off sick 😂

Thank you to everyone who has been part of Carlen’s Canines & Companions over the years. The clients who have been here since the early days, the ones who have joined us more recently, everyone who recommends us and, obviously, all the dogs who are the reason any of us are here in the first place.

Next year we hit 𝗗𝗢𝗨𝗕𝗟𝗘 𝗗𝗜𝗚𝗜𝗧𝗦, which feels mildly terrifying...

And we might already have something in the works so we can actually celebrate that one with you all 👀
