The Lit Ladies took a trad wife route in our review of #Yesteryear!

Now…I didn’t read this one. 😅 I DID TRY, but I am currently wrapped up with the Delgados/Infernos and couldn’t get this one going. This activity though…it was a blast!

We spent the day doing a food tour, sampling some of the chef made dishes throughout the market, learning the history of the southern biscuit and getting to make some of our own! The Municipal Market in downtown Atlanta will definitely see me again! (I picked up some oxtails and collard greens and even got myself some waist beads! It was such a cute market.)

This was one of my favorite meetings to date! Even our guide had read this book. While I didn’t read it, I loved hearing the girls talking about all of the ups and downs. It wasn’t a Lit Ladies favorite, but BOY did they have a lot of fun things to say about it lol.

If you’re in the Atlanta area, I highly recommend the biscuit making class. It would be such a cute girls day out. You even get a recipe to take home. (The biscuits are also delicious and come with a peach jam!)

I can’t wait for our next adventure.

📖 Next up: Verity by Colleen Hoover just in time for the movie to release!

🐉 Lit Ladies Bookclub Review: On Wings of Blood 🐉

We didn’t get any pictures with the book… because honestly? The it was just okay for me.

If we were playing “underhyped / overhyped / appropriately hyped,” I’d say this was 100% overhyped. Maybe I’m biased, but the main character’s last name being Pendragon kept yanking me out of the story. I’m a King Arthur + Merlin stan, so every time I saw that name I was like… girl, please. 😭

Even without the King Arthur References, it felt like a popular Tik Tok romatasy Frankenstein of a book. Nothing felt super original. BUT the dragons? The dragons were cool.

Would I continue the series? Yes. I was entertained and the ending made it feel like the second book would break away from what we’ve read before into its own thing.

⭐️⭐️⭐️

Unpopular opinion aside… book club last night was EVERYTHING. I’ll say this every time we get together: I love that we’ve known each other for years. Some of us 20+ years, at that! It’s a true sisterhood, and I’m so grateful for their friendship. And you KNOW when we get together the food and the drinks will always be A-1. At one point it genuinely felt like a scene straight out of Belly 😂

Whose book is next? We held a Rock-Paper-Scissors tournament to decide.

THAT’S A WRAP ON BOOKCLUB FOR 2025! See you ladies in 2026! 🫶🏾💕
