Somewhere in a decrepit stairwell, below ground and amidst murk and muck, to celebrate Jacko’s birthday. All of the blessings and gratitude to Jacko, Bill, Kat (and those who braved the dark and the dust) for this very special night. #noinputmixing #noise #experimental #hardware #aotearoa

Bro I am still getting over how incredible this show was. And what a way to start what would hopefully turn into my own 3 gig festival night….Apart from the music that occurred, I also got a chance to look at @rm.gallery for a bit, and have a chat about stuff with Tan? Tarn? who is part of the collective. Only had time to really check out one of the exhibits, but what a great one. “Neither Real Nor imagined” by Litia Tuiburelevu really grabbed me with its take on the David Lynch movie Mulholland Drive- one of my faves. Quite stunning tbh. But back to the performances…. @paradoxprincessxox continues to rip shreds out of the experimental noise rap crossover arena and is absolutely unmissable. All energy, all attitude, leaving nothing on the table. @ducklingmonster produced an incredible set of drony filtered noise with vocals and portable record player integration. Possibly my favourite set from them. So all engulfing. And if all this wasn’t enough, I finally got to experience the @odeious_ live performance. Mind blown, this was some absolute peak noise performance. Largely involving a microphone in the mouth, and phone audio picked up by said microphone, I was left absolutely positively stunned by what I’d just experienced. Genuinely incredible. Just wow. What a start to my night. I’ve posted the entire uncut performance as it just defies being broken up…. And now off to Whammy public bar, for some more goodness… Gig#96 for 2026

RA MIX 071: OEDIOUS x Diamantista Diamantista (@prenatal_amygdala) Deterritorialized sound artist. Currently Berlin based. A tender, visceral and hallucinatory vaporization of sounds and feelings, an exploration of solitude amidst a hyper connected reality. Voices, guitars, strings, field recordings, electronics, all processed through various audio production techniques and whatever means available, aiming to balance intensity and intimacy, manifest an arcane and elusive sense of beauty within dreamlike sequences, re-imagining the world building potential of metal-adjacent aesthetics through a degendered lens. Co-founder of label/platform @ruegoww, theatrical performance unit Anonymous Dreamers and clothing brand Liminal Veil. Possibly also a producer/DJ. Sympaathy.com ODEIOUS ODEIOUS (@oedious_ / @katlang___), a double entendre for lyrical poem and arousing disdain, is the sonic and performance alias of Kat Lang. Extending upon a methodology of noise, Odeious creates luminous textural progression born of musique concrete principles and submerged club memories. With a versatile sound, leaning towards the dark, moody and hysterical, they've played and produced for the likes of Hentai Hammer, Jimmy D, Insession, Lerm Werld, Sigil Sounds, Bizarre Bazaar, and Related Articles, and are a co-producer with Naarm/Tāmaki based collective @nympho.world >>>>now uploaded! •._.• ĹเＮⓀ 𝓲ⓝ 乃𝐈ｏ •._

RM Gallery & Project Space and Audio Foundation present an evening of sound performance hosted at RM. The event will consist of sonic performances from @paradoxprincessxox, @ducklingmonster and @katlang___ RM will be open with exhibitions from artists J Davies and Litia Tuiburelevu and Shaun Naufahu available to view in the main gallery space. 🗓 Friday 18 September, 6.30pm RM loading bay ~Natasha Munro Hurn, musically known as Paradox Princess, is a trans artist working in the realms of queer liberation both sculpturally and sonically. Their project Paradox Princess is a concoction of both punk and hip hop infused into intense performances of a one girl party for everyone to witness. ~Ducklingmonster is an audio-visual artist from Onehunga, Aotearoa. She investigates social sites through a range of practices with a focus on lively performance installations. Publicly, her work has predominantly been in experimental sound performance, most notably in the group The Futurians, and solo as Ducklingmonster. In 2024, she released the LP ‘I know…… a… way” on AudioFoundation Records. Utilising a combination of scratched 45 records, broken beats emanating from a JVC boombox, field recordings of crashing oceans and Karangahape footpaths, electronic and vocal textures laid into walls of sonics – Duckling monster revels in the forgotten, neglected and overlooked. This collage of damaged sounds shines a light on lost passages of real time and space. ~ ODEIOUS, a double entendre for lyrical poem and arousing disdain, is the sonic and performance alias of Kat Lang. Employing the methodology of musique concrete, Lang utilises noise, mimetics, and audience-as-hostage-as-imperative. Lang is an artist currently based in Tāmaki Makaurau, working across music, night life and entertainment industries. Their work revolves around an interest in intimate surveillance, bio/necropolitics, audienceship and absurdity. Lang commonly uses sound as an extension of the body through tools in a critically post-humanist manner. Noise here is a material of intensity, a method of disassembling coherence, used to unravel systems that tether the body to fixed narratives and stable meaning.
