Kaylee, Kriz & Ang present: “This Is Not A Film About Feminism.”

A dance short film exploring the repetitive and all-too-common experience of being perceived only through the lens of a woman’s gender, “This Is Not A Film About Feminism” was created by and for those of us confined to bodies that patriarchal systems have deemed less-than, and who are forced to navigate and normalize the microaggressions that have become so deeply ingrained in our everyday lives that they are often rendered invisible, or simply accepted.

This film is not a statement, but a collaborative expression of lived experience.

Thank you to all of the remarkable women who were a part of this project. TINAFAF is an embodiment of the talent, creativity, rage, humour, and dedication of everyone who contributed to its journey.

And thank you to @innovatefilmshowcase for screening our film and to everyone who voted, helping us take home “Audience Choice”! Seeing our project on the big screen, and hearing women in the room laugh and relate to it in real time, is a memory we will truly treasure.

Our favourite moments from “This Is Not A Film About Feminism.”

A dance short film exploring the expectations associated with gender roles, “This Is Not A Film About Feminism.” serves not as a manifesto, rather an expression of lived experiences.

Following its premier and recognition as “Audience Choice” at Innovate Dance Film Showcase, stay tuned for the full video to be shared soon!

☆*:.。. BOBBEYONCE- THE SEQUEL .。.:*☆

(warning long caption lmao) ʕ•̫͡•ʕ•̫͡•ʔ•̫͡•ʔ•̫͡•ʕ•̫͡•ʔ•̫͡•ʕ•̫͡•ʕ•̫͡•ʔ•̫͡•ʔ•̫͡•ʕ•̫͡•ʔ

This is my second creative project revolving around me being beyoncé lol. Two years ago, I wanted to pretend to be beyoncé, the “main character” if you will. I always loved being in the spotlight and dancing because it feels like I can become somebody else, somebody who isn’t bobbi, instead “bobbeyonce”.

I kept carrying this character along with me for battles, performances, even classes. Knowing that i could become someone else, even for a moment, brought me comfort. I didn’t have to watch back my videos because that wasn’t me dancing, that was bobbeyonce. And with that began my journey in separating bobbi, who is filled with self-doubt and insecurities, from bobbeyonce, a confident baddie who doesn’t take shit from nooooobody.

Eventually, the facade broke when i had to face myself after reach 2024. My team had won with such an awesome set, but i didn’t feel accomplished, if anything i felt empty? Everyone kept rewatching the videos, but all i could feel was shame. How could I feel confident when I looked a certain way? How could I believe that i was a good dancer? Why did I think I deserve this?
The snowball of insecurity that I had been building had finally crushed me.

Thus began a long journey to finding happiness as bobbi, someone who is confidently insecure, kinda lazy, likes to dance and is embarrassingly passionate. I’m still on the path to finding myself again, but I wanted to create one piece to encapsulate that journey in a fun and playful way.

Instead of just me being the “main character”, I wanted to share that spotlight with others i respect as dancers and as people. I wanted to show the importance of being in the spotlight as well as being in the background. Like these tutting pictures would have looked like butt if it was just me standing there, it only looks good coz everyone else was there.

This caption is getting way too long (obligatory to mention), so I’m gonna end it here. If you’ve read this far, Happy New year! Here’s to actually posting projects and whatever shitty art we make lol

UHHU SZN 21 NUHHUS

“IN MOTION”

Coming off strong from UHHU’s 20th anniversary, this year’s theme symbolizes pivotal moment for the team - stepping into a new generation that continues to carry the same legacies, values, and sense of community that have shaped UHHU throughout the years.

Moreover, “IN MOTION” reflects the essence of dance itself - the act of constantly moving, adapting, and expressing. As dancers, we are always in motion, not only physically but creatively and emotionally. It embodies the idea that movement never stops, and through that motion, we continue to evolve, inspire, and redefine what UHHU represents today.
