I just finished revisiting this sequel... A 90s underrated horror classic starring Emily Bergl as Rachel and Jason London as Jessie... Amy Irving reprises her role as Sue Snell... This movie not only has great actors but also great special effects, film score and soundtrack! Can't believe the rating on IMDb is low for such a cult classic! Definitely one of my favorites films in the Carrie franchise!

Katt Shea is one of only two women who has adapted a Stephen King property into a feature film (the first was, of course, the legendary Mary Lambert with Pet Sematary). Yes, the number is still only two in the year of our lord 2026. And Shea deserves way more credit for her 90s nu-metal take on telekinetic teens tortured in high school. Instead of trying to resurrect Carrie White, Shea crafts her own misunderstood female lead with Rachel (played by an amazing Emily Bergl), a young woman navigating terrible foster parents, a dead best friend and a harassment campaign launched by the school jocks. And these jocks want to protect their boy after being accused of rape. It’s more timely than ever in the wake of the horrors of the Cornell 7 and the hells that Jane Doe endured at their hands. Shea crafted an underrated piece of feminine rage cinema that criticizes rape culture. More people need to give this sequel a chance. Now on Tubi — Mary Beth McAndrews

THE RAGE: CARRIE 2 (1999)

Directed by Katt Shea

The Rage: Carrie 2 is one of those “found it on VHS” titles that extended the story of the original novel by Stephen King and the Brian De Palma film. I was just an impressionable youngster when I first stumbled upon the movie and I always dug it. However, thinking on it now… It is also extremely relevant today, as the film explores male toxicity and violence against women.

A horrible massacre strikes up after an outcast teenage girl, with familial ties to Carrie White, is taunted by a group of high school jocks, all of them unaware of her cutthroat telekinetic powers.

The Rage is based on a true story… at least in part. The themes of violence/sexual violence stemming from high school boys was inspired by a real world case referred to as the “Spur Posse”. The incident occurred in 1993 at Lakewood High School in California and saw upwards of 20 to 30 teen boys were tracking and boasting about their number of “sexual conquests”. The film highlights this to tragic ends.

The Rage: Carrie 2 is brought to us in this gorgeous limited edition 4K UHD from @vinegarsyndrome syndrome the picture is insane solid. Film grain, color saturation, and clarity are all top notch. As for audio, Vinegar Syndrome saw fit to provide both a DTS 5.1 and a 2.0 track… both serve the presentation well.

🎞️

“I genuinely think The Rage: Carrie 2 deserves a lot more credit than it gets.”
- Alexandra Heller-Nicholas, Fangoria

“A legacy sequel before anyone coined that term, with a great lead actress and some genuine care put into the story.”
- Justin Olivetti, Mutant Reviewers

“A unique aspect of The Rage: Carrie 2 is the way it examines toxic masculinity from a teenage girl’s point of view. The popular jocks in the film were based on a real-life group of teens known as the Spur Posse, who faced multiple sexual assault allegations.”
- Molly Henery, Certified Forgotten

“While Carrie is the story of an ugly duckling longing for acceptance, its sequel follows a confident but guarded girl struggling to trust anyone with her heart. The Rage: Carrie 2 is a feminist retelling of one of the greatest revenge stories of all time.”
- Jenn Adams, Bloody Disgusting

“The best thing about Carrie 2 is the way the cruelties of the cliquish schoolgirls and macho jocks are built up so you’re fairly itching to see them get their eyeballs popped out and their privates harpooned.”
- Steve Newton, Georgia Straight

Two films that had a great impact on me are, Michael Jackson's Thriller and Psycho III. For years, I've drawn, thought about, and started a Psycho III poster projects, but could never get it right. I feel that I finally got it right. My very own, custom made, PSYCHO III movie poster. A childhood dream come true. I am very pleased with the outcome. #mydesign #mycreation #psychomovie #normanbates #horror
