BIG NEWS!

The amazing 80s/90s Quantel artist @mikeparsons2018 has developed a free MO disk app which converts Quantel OS images, video and text into modern readable files such as PNG, MOV and PDF.

It requires a working MO drive and BLUESCSI SD card adapter but once the drive is mirrored, this Mac based app extracts all the information in the blink of an eye. It will even restore deleted files!

For example, these 1993-4 news graphics from ABC's @katutv station in Portland OR were actually on a Quantel font disk.

BTW can anyone tell me why news graphics are not ever considered as infographics by design historians, when they so obviously are and were seen by millions on TV every day? Snobbery towards TV graphics? You can see the variety of designs and styles the KATU 2 designer had to constantly come up with, which literally became yesterday's news.

If you have any Quantel format MO disks, I am happy to convert them for you for free.

Happening now in Sullivan’s Gulch - going on our 6th hour.

In an apartment building of mostly single women, there’s a man who was evicted on October 1st. He’d been yelling - just generally yelling - as well as yelling threats of murder and rape from his window since January.

On October 2nd, he recorded himself yelling a sentence, “Hey! What the f*ck is coming out of my walls, you f*cking b*tch?” And then began to play it at top volume on speakers pointing out his open windows. He’s played it every single day since, adding more words and a series of instruments and beats.

(There was a moment early on when he played the yelling over a single French horn line plus a fiddle that was honestly hilarious instrumentally speaking)

He’s taped a lot of pieces of paper to his window and door with explanations for his behavior and QR codes with longer explanations.
There are new signs pretty regularly - especially because we’ve started taking them down and/or writing on them.

All of us women are obviously in a group chat at this point. First we offered each other lots of empathy. Then baked goods. By a week in we were offering each other drugs. Two days later we started brainstorming ways to steal his speakers.

We’ve worked with mental health care workers, the police and his family at our landlord’s request to help wrap this situation up because - get this - there’s nothing anyone can do to make him be quiet.

I’ve learned the city noise code because of all this and you’re not supposed to be louder than 50db at night and 55db during the day. His broadcast is coming through at a whopping 90db and he plays it day and night. 3am is a regular time for a set, as is 4:30am.

Anyway - back to the noise code. He’s not technically breaking it because he’s in an apartment complex and the code says the landlord has to enforce the noise limitations.

-which the landlord did - by evicting him. And giving him 30 days notice which - again - is how all this started…

On October 15th in downtown Portland, while I was filming the aftermath of a violent boxcutter attack near Broadway, Some officers seemed fine with my camera, others acted like my presence was a problem. People I didn't know seemed to recognize me, questioned my hoodie, and one even appeared to offer money to have me jumped. I've documented these encounters for years. I'm asking you to watch, pay attention to the details, and ask why this civil conspiracy continues. The camera's rolling, and I'm not letting the story get buried by a bunch of Epstein Files deniers.
