I’ve spent more than a year on this one. We went to Romania in early November 2024, and it set off a chain of reporting that turned into three films. This new video is the final part and the reason main reason I wanted to go. It’s one of the longest projects I’ve ever worked on, and definitely the longest Faultline video ever. It spans three time periods and show what is happening in economically poor countries that are rich in minerals and the lengths some will go too to extract them.

When we set out twelve months ago, I had no idea how big this story would become or that I’d still be piecing it together a year later. So grab some Popcorn, kick back and check out the full video.

In the city of Baia Mare, in Romania. Twenty-five years ago, something went wrong which triggered one of Europe’s worst environmental disasters, it was dubbed Romania’s Chernobyl. But unlike Chernobyl people didn’t leave. The disaster faded from memory, but the danger didn’t. So what is really going on here? @andyburgess @mackmooney._ &@katwa88 went there to find out. Full video on our channel now.

Hey everyone! We’re holding off on publishing our next video until the new year. While filming in Romania, the story evolved into something we never thought we’d be uncovering. It’s taken six weeks to crack the script, and this has grown into the biggest investigation we’ve ever done. Your support allows us to continue telling stories on the ground, and we can’t thank you enough for making it possible. Here’s a selection of clips from the next story. Enjoy the holidays, and we’ll see you in January!
