UNIDEE Programme 𝙇𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙪𝙖𝙜𝙚𝙨, 𝙋𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙨𝙚 continued in June with 𝗠𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗹𝗲 𝗩𝗜𝗜: 𝙎𝙥𝙚𝙡𝙡 𝙤𝙛 𝘾𝙤𝙡𝙤𝙧, led by Cromoactivismo.
For Cromoactivismo, color is a collective tool that acts on the body and perception, opening ways of sharing knowledge that challenge dominant narratives. Through a common working protocol, participants explored color as a metaphor for plural and embodied forms of knowledge, questioning social and hegemonic norms. The residency unfolded through an extended attention to light and reflections on the river as both a living entity and a body shaped by capitalist infrastructures, giving rise to a shared practice. The module concluded with a collective parade, where names and colors became ways of engaging with the river’s political force in both its material and metaphorical dimensions.

Many thanks to the mentor @marina.de.caro from @cromoactivismo , to the curators and to all the residents who made this week of collective learning and exchange possible:

The Chromo-March for the Cervo River was a collective procession developed as part of Spell of Color, the seventh UNIDEE Residency Module of the programme Languages, Please, part of @unideeresidencyprograms at @cittadellarte.

Following a situated walk along the Cervo, a river that flows through Biella carrying with it the traces of textile histories, industrial infrastructures, pollution and altered ecologies, we developed a colour palette drawn from our encounters with the river and its surrounding landscapes.

Yet these colours did not describe the river as it appears. They were not intended as objective tones or visual transcriptions. Instead, they became signifiers: names, concepts and propositions through which to think with the river rather than simply represent it.

From this palette, we first wrote an ethical and poetic manifesto in which each colour opened a different position from which to speak about the river. Later, these colours reappeared as banners, carried through the city in a collective procession. Mixed with slogans, fragments of text and other signs, they formed a language that was at once familiar and opaque.

The procession moved towards the point from which the industrial buildings that once depended upon the river become visible, before continuing into the centre of Biella. Along the way, the banners attempted to give voice to a more-than-human subject that rarely enters public discourse except as resource, infrastructure or backdrop.

The river did not speak in a language of clarity: it spoke through codes, colours, interruptions and ambiguities.
Perhaps this apparent opacity was precisely the point: not every voice needs to be immediately understood in order to be heard. Sometimes attention begins with a disruption, with a language that resists optimisation, translation and easy consumption: for a brief moment, the streets of Biella became a space in which the Cervo River could speak back.

What color is the river? - video 13’05” - 2026 - Daniela Di Lullo

Infinitely grateful @cittadellarte @unideeresidencyprograms

Manifesto:
“We, the rivers, are gentle green voices with bloody brownish angry livers.
We, the rivers, raise our noisy, silent, loud quiet silver conciousness, that allows us to meander between non-human white and post-human brown.
We, the rivers, are invisible white and nevertheless an endless grey.
We, the rivers, embrace the need for pink to camouflage green although we have got fat fungi pink bodies.
We, the rivers, aim to flow out from all this shit into boundless otium blue.”

It’s a start, which I don’t know where it will take me. This work took shape during the week of residence at the Pistoletto Foundation @unideeresidencyprograms.
It was beautiful and very intense

Inside The Third Paradise of Pistoletto I strongly felt the sense of emptiness. You and We were missing, there was only I. And the river is like the Third paradise, it needs you and us to be the river. We only exist among the others, just as the river is a river because there is a spring and a basin that welcomes it.

Heartfelt thanks to @nina_fiocco for giving me this opportunity, to @ga__.mar , Heartfelt thanks to @marina.de.caro from @cromoactivismo for everything she transmitted to us and for her contagious laughter ❤️ thanks to @claratosetti and Laura and to @cittadellarte @unideeresidencyprograms Thanks to Giulio for the delicious prosecco! thanks to my wonderful roommates, incredible artists, shining souls @elia_kal @katyamora_c @riccardorizz @s.rukuizaite @varvara_keidan_shavrova @alloewero @riccardorizzetto_studio @ambriente @memento_momi @francesca.casale.sensu @maiagattasvargas ☀️❤️ Love u

Grateful to have taken part in Spell of Color, the seventh UNIDEE Residency Module of the programme Languages, Please, part of @unideeresidencyprograms at @cittadellarte, curated by Nina Fiocco (@nina_fiocco) and Gaia Martino (@ga__.mar).

Held from 15–19 June 2026, the module unfolded with Marina De Caro (@marina.de.caro), member of @cromoactivismo, exploring colour as a poetic and political practice: a sensitive, collective and plural form of knowledge capable of putting dominant narratives under tension.

Across conversations, exercises and shared gestures, colour became a way to think through perception, bodies, language, care and collective protocols — not simply as something to be seen, but as something that acts, unsettles and opens other possibilities of relation.

A warm thank you to the curators, mentors, organisers and to all the fellow participants with whom I shared these intense days: @danieladlullo @elia_kal @memento_momi @s.rukuizaite @maiagattasvargas @alloewero @francesca.casale.sensu @ambriente @katyamora_c @varvara_keidan_shavrova

What is a river?

The river is not the water but it is what surrounds it. The river is not transparent, the river is brown, red, green, gray, black.
