Lorcan, my newest pleasure and western show Kavan stallion; walked along side me gracefully as we headed to the BSS arena for our long line class. I hadn't debuted Lorcan yet, and I figured this would be the perfect place to do so as BSS had a really great place to show the young ones and the green ones.

"Easy there my boy," I said as I patted Lorcan 's neck when another stallion came by, snorting and flickering his tail, obviously noticing the testosterone exuding from Lorcan. Even though he was all boy, he didn't even seem to show it most of the time. The most excited I had seen him was during his first turnout with the older geldings and at feeding time. The man was motivated for a good meal, and he and I definitely had that in common.

Lorcan settled back into his body, flickering his ears back and forth as he drank in the situation around him. "Good lad..," I trailed off as we entered the ring at the announcer's discretion and began getting to our long line circle. I stood tall and still, letting Lorcan find his circle and set his walking rhythm. "Please showcase his trot," the announcer said, Lorcan easily popping into a lovely long trot at the small click of my tongue.

A smile spread as my gorgeous stallion proudly stretched and lengthened around the ring, his coat catching the autumn sun and his dapples glimmering in the sun. "Please ask for the canter," the announcer requested as I clicked once more, Lorcan happily bounding into his lovely rhythmic canter. I let him go around a few circles before the announcer asked for him to back down to the walk and change directions.

Lorcan happily obliged, and then spent the rest of our showcased time showing the judges just how magnificent it was.

My sweet girl, Pumpkin debuting in her Cutting class! She was phenomenal and even though my nerves were up from being away from the western show pen for so long; she was so good for me! ✨

I cannot wait to see what we get up to in the future🍂🖤

Leather against leather is a sound I wish I didn’t have to experience... especially in the rain. *Yirk yirk* it goes... someone save me from this soundmare. I really thought that I had ate with my costume this time, Katniss in her archer outfit, but clearly I was the one getting played, as always. Give me a break, universe please!! Thankfully, Mounted Archery wasn’t as public as the others had been, just me and Kiki racing against time and pumpkins. I did wonder, as we cantered around the trail, if I could take her saddlepad and place it under my legs so the saddle and my leathery ass wouldn’t scream a horrid sound at me for the next 10 minutes. I close my eyes for a second to calm my system, then we are back on it; I give Kiki the signal to go full hammer on her speed. I’ve always loved cold wind in my face, and today is no different as we continue on the trail; I manage to shoot around 75% of the pumpkins, not having to do another strike.

Truth be told, I was somewhat excited for today. No rain which meant that my costume hopefully wouldn’t be ruined, unless the giant mountain of a horse to Fern kicked me off. Who knows, I’m not known for my good luck.
Yesterday had gone as well as it could; Ella and I had celebrated getting through the first day back in Jorvik. The cozy feel of being with one’s best friend can sadly not undo years of scandals being thrown around in the mud. I was the scandal; my social life was the mud. At least this time around.
Part of me hoped today would be easier; dressage wasn’t particularly easy. But it wasn’t popular with the people who started my scandal, which meant less pressure to perform. Or Fern being Fern, he didn’t care. He loved the attention that I brought upon us, even if it wasn’t always good. One thing that also made today easier was wearing the costume of a strong woman; it made me feel strong just to be associated with her. Even if it’s just for an afternoon.
