Our Kobe dog passed away on May 26 from complications of kidney failure, though you never would’ve known it from his forever puppy face. Our dude was 16.5 years young.

I never thought my forever pups would leave me, and I definitely never imagined I’d lose them both only months apart. But they were the best duo ever created, so somehow it makes sense they couldn’t stay apart for long.

Kobe has been with me since I was 18 years old. My first dog. My first real kind of unconditional love. He was obsessed with me just as much as I was obsessed with him.

No matter where we went, Kobe made friends. Airports, beaches, parks, gyms, restaurants, basketball courts, hotels, and the chaos of opening two businesses like he owned the place, he belonged everywhere. People loved him instantly.

Thank you to everyone who loved him, especially these last few months since Juliet passed.

He was special. Truly one of a kind. The perfect companion through almost 17 years of my life.

We laid Kobe to rest beside his sister, and I know Juliet was so excited to see him again. They were always a pair. Yin and yang.

My forever puppy.

If you have a memory or a photo of him or both of them, please share, I would love to see.

Our sweet baby Yoda, Juju jumping bean, Juliet Kingham passed away Monday around 6pm. She developed tumors throughout her spleen, kidneys, and lungs and somehow let no one know until three days before. She loved life fully and knew love all the way to the end.

During Christmas of 2012, I went to visit my boyfriend at the time, who was playing professional basketball in Cyprus, a small Mediterranean island off the coast of Turkey. It was my first visit to Europe. Before heading to the mall one day, we stopped to get gas. As we pulled in, I saw her. She was the smallest and cutest little orange dog I had ever seen, and before there was a discussion, I was out of the car and scooped her up.

The gas station owner spoke to me in broken English and said, “Free dog, take take.” And just like that, she was ours.

We named her Romeo at first, but after a closer inspection, we realized she was a girl, so Juliet it was. Her first meal was KFC chicken nuggets and French fries.

This Turkish village dog, once a stray at a gas station, lived 13 full years. She traveled to 10 countries across 4 continents and now rests forever in Grand Lake, Louisiana.

The loyalty, love, and happiness dogs bring into our lives is unlike anything else in this world, and Juliet was all of that and more. She loved bananas, people, tennis balls, and the beach. Most of all, she loved her people.

Thank you to everyone who showed this little dog love and shared in all the good times. What a perfect time it was. Thank you.
