A triumph of purity: JC Buendia redefines luxury at the Red Charity Gala
When the master tailor himself stepped onto the floor, the room erupted into a thunderous, tearful standing ovation — a profoundly theatrical moment that laid bare the beautiful, beating soul behind the couture.

O COME, ALL YE FRIENDLY

It was the nth birthday dinner for @michelletiangco.i.g.w.t, hosted by @arataseina_, @iamchinacruz, and @marcoprotacio in a private room at Canton Road at the @shangrilafort.

Birthdays these days seem to come with a season of celebrations, usually with different sets of friends. Of course, circles overlap, so you can end up at one, two, or all of those parties.

Over dinner, among many other things, we talked about Chinese superstitions. It was the first time I heard of the “3, 6, 9 Rule,” although we only talked about age gaps of three and six years. As it was explained to me, certain age gaps between partners are believed to foretell marital conflict, heartbreak, financial decline, or divorce.

I asked a friend across the table, “What about a 25-year age gap?” I had Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones in mind, as well as Alec and Hilaria Baldwin.

Lucky for me, that train has left the station.

Whatever the truth behind these beliefs, birthdays offer a perfectly good excuse to gather friends to celebrate another year of life.

If that's good chi, I'll take it.

An evening of giving and elegance in motion, the 14th Red Charity Gala (@redcharitygala) brought guests together at The Peninsula Manila (@thepeninsulamanila) for its annual charity fundraiser, led by co-chairs Tessa Prieto (@seaprincess888) and Kaye Tinga (@kayetinga).

On the runway, featured designer JC Buendia (@jcbuendia_) presented his vision of relaxed luxury through fluid silhouettes, soft tailoring, and thoughtful details—clothes made to move with the people wearing them.
