Olivia Rodrigo debuted Daisy Chain Fields, an all-women, Lilith Fair-inspired festival at Great Park in Irvine on August 29. The lineup included iconic artists Chappell Roan, Doechii, Megan The Stallion, and genre icon and co-founder, Sarah McLachlan. The event raised $20 million for nonprofits supporting women and girls, proving the festival stage can double as a fundraising platform.

“L.A., it’s been a long time, right?” Suga asked in Korean near the end of BTS’ opening show at SoFi Stadium Tuesday night as he and his bandmates — Jung Kook, Jimin, V, RM, J-Hope and Jin — sat on the edge of a rotating platform in the center of the enormous stage. The deafening response suggested he’d gotten it almost right: In fact, it had been too long.

Yet if Tuesday’s show convincingly framed BTS as a world-class pop act (no small-bore awards categories required), it also had to be viewed in the context of a transitional moment for K-pop more broadly, Times music critic @mikael.wood writes.

Let’s just pretend that I posted these a month ago because April almost took me out 🤪

It was such an honor to perform at @coachella with @partyinmylivingroom for the second year in a row. Thank you @kingthurz for trusting me and for creating this beautiful, inclusive space 🤍🤍🤍

Also, thank you to my editors for giving me the space to showcase both of my gifts in a cohesive way ✍🏾 🎶🎧 S/O to my team for pulling up & supporting me as well.

By far, my favorite HYPEchella experience thus far! 🎡🫶🏾🎡

I illustrated a kite for the @latimes May 3rd Weekend Edition! You can cut the kite out of your copy of the paper, build it in a few simple steps, and fly it! Thanks to @jacinthewild.la who came up with this wonderful idea, @fstafford who art directed, and @kayla.bartkowski who photographed the final product! Go grab an issue tomorrow!
