Meet the guest for Amanda’s world My name is Kayla Stockert and l am a singer/songwriter. I sing a mix of Doo-Wop music, old jazz/R&B and my original songs.
l’ve been singing since I was eight years old, and music has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. Growing up, I had the unique experience of performing alongside many of the original doo-wop groups from the 1950s and ‘60s.
Being surrounded by those artists and their stories at such a young age gave me an early glimpse into the music industryJones Beach Amphitheater, the Friars Club, doo-wop showcases, street fairs, carnivals, and countless other stages. I also have the joy of occasionally performing alongside my siblings, who are musicians my siblings, who are musicians themselves.
My original music has found its way into commercials and films, including one of my songs being featured in a Starbucks commercial. My song
“Where Did You Go” has also surpassed one million streams on Spotify, which is something I’m incredibly grateful for.
I approach my music unconventionally I make it because I enjoy it and as my own therapy. I also hope to inspire and connect with other people through my music. My current dream is to return to singing in Jazz clubs and Piano bars because I know that is meant to be my path.
Every year I perform at the Montauk Music Festival which is one of my favorite times of year.
I’m grateful for every person, opportunity, and experience that has brought me to where I am today, and I’m excited to see where the music takes me next
