When I was younger, I used to complain about missing football games and hanging with friends for Shabbat dinners. I didn’t realize then that those Friday nights were shaping everything—the rhythm that kept our family close, the glue that built this unshakable bond. The laughter, the meals, the support, the rituals—they created a sense of belonging that still anchors us today. And has become my security blanket throughout life.

Years later, that bond took us to planning annual family trips together. Long before Airbnb was even a thing, we’d rent a house and fit as many cousins as possible into closets, couches, and air mattresses. What began as seven siblings sharing one house grew into something far greater.

We eventually outgrew the crowded rooms, and now four generations fill the spaces with laughter, stories, and joy. The scale has changed, but the feeling never has.

It’s the weekend I count down to every year. This year it took 49 rooms, 7 houses, and endless love to hold us all—but somehow, it still feels just like those warm Shabbat dinners that started it all. #keepingupwiththekashanis #campkashani (sorry wouldn’t let me tag more than 20 of you!)
