Thanks to construction reroutes, new fresh trail, and a extra slap of hot temps and humidity, this year's Walking Tall proved to be the longest and most physically challenging course yet, and these Flatlanders went out and smashed it!

Jaime Russell @the_salty_piercer is no stranger to racing, she been out crushing road races for long time. She wanted to get into Ultra racing to experience new challenges and chose Walking Tall 50k to be her first official Ultra Trail race! She got the challenge she was looking for and she crushed it! She stuck to her race plan, stayed on top of fueling and hydration, and kept it together though some real ultra problem solving to run a great first ultra! Congrats Jaime!

Karen Berry @kayrene68 chose Walking Tall to be her final long training run leading into her first "proper" 50k at Mamba in three weeks! And a great training opportunity it turned out to be! She ran it smart, utlilizing the tough course to practice her pacing, fueling, and hydration knowing her A race lay ahead and still managed to snag a great finish! Great Job, Kiddo!

I'm so proud of both of their accomplishments this weekend and privileged to be a part of their journeys!

Fortitudine Vincimus!
