How to Assemble you #kayfamartchallenge Jason X Zine:

Step 1. Print your pages out! The file names should correspond to how they get printed (cover front.pdf and cover back.pdf on the front and back of the same sheet of paper, page 1 front.pdf and page 1 back.pdf on the same sheet of paper etc etc). Make sure they’re all oriented correctly and one page isn’t upside down or anything if you’re printing them yourself!

Step 2. Once your pages are in the correct order, double check your work by flipping through it like a magazine or book. If everything looks in order, give the stack a tap to get all your edges lined up and ready for stapling.

Step 3. Get your long stapler out and staple the middle twice: first towards the top and a second towards the bottom. Double check and adjust your stapler as needed to make sure it is stapling in the correct spot!

Step 4. Fold your zine along the spine/staples. If you’re doing this by hand it helps to have a tool to save your hand from blisters and pain called a Bone Folder which you can get at just about any arts and crafts store. You could also just get a spoon out of your kitchen drawer. Anything you can use to press and make a nice crease works.

Step 5. Trim the margins with a really sharp blade and a ruler. BE VERY CAREFUL ABOUT WHERE YOUR FINGERS ARE AND DO NOT CUT YOURSELF! Take your time or get an adult to help you with this part. It also saves time to trim once the zine is fully assembled.

If you’re going through a service to print your KayFamArtChallenge Jason X zine, simply follow step 1 and make sure everything is oriented correctly.

Once assembled you now have an art zine for your table featuring your art on the cover! I plan on printing mine with @columbiaprintingandgraphics when my two other art zines are ready for @charlestonzinefest
