This is a 24x30 oil painting, just the last image is with touch ups, the image of the whole painting is how it was at the end of the night.

Two boroughs, three days, and many weathers. 🌦️

Thursday at POWERHOUSE Arena in DUMBO it thundered all day and rained on and off and friends and colleagues and collaborators made it through. There was an Evian party across the way thumping for half of it, which I have decided to take as a compliment. Wah-Ming Chang, who I’d had ramen with an hour before, asked me about the section where my father photographs the night sky. I was talking to a friend. The conversation never really ended, it just moved.

Saturday at Topaz Arts, in a suit my niece Mercy made for me, and I made sure everyone knew it. Luis Francia read my chapter about secrets and revolution out loud, and dear reader, I sat in that same studio two decades ago watching a play of his and thinking, oh, look at these people. Arvee answered that chapter with Filipino martial arts. Hossannah read while Paz danced. Bino made the whole room clap for me for a full minute and then told us he’d timed it. Outrageous. Fierce in his love. That’s Bino. Margaret and Lara held the mic like they were holding the room together in a big hug, and Margaret put a gold sampaguita around my neck. Moe played my playlist. Sarah, Lori Lynn, and Joseph said things I am still carrying around.

Somewhere in the last twenty-some years I became a New Yorker and I didn’t notice until I woke up jet-lagged the other day thinking, it’s good to be home.

And then a young woman I met at the BK event came to the Queens party too, and it turned out she’d spent a year in Ketchikan recently working for a tour outfit out at Eagle Creek. She had two favorite bears. She showed me the tattoo she just got of them and I showed her my photos of the mother bear and her cubs, taken at that same creek two weeks ago. Alaska found me in Woodside.

Thank you. All of you. 🌙💛

It was such an honor to stand by my chosen sister as she married the love of her life this weekend. It was a labor of true love to run after her to fan her, fix her bustle, tuck a few strands of hair away, or get a moment of calm. This weekend was such a dream to just see all of the love this gorgeous gal and her husband (!!!) have in their lives. My heart is so full!!! 💕

To sum up 2025 in 20 photos is barely a snippet - it can’t begin to show ALL of the love, laughter, tears, adventures, and cozy days that brought me to the doorstep of 2026. So thankful for all of it 🤍🥂✨
